QuickLogic Announces Partnership with DSP Concepts to Extend the Market Reach of Always-On Mobile Devices

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 23, 2018 — (PRNewswire) — QuickLogic Corporation (NASDAQ: QUIK), a developer of ultra-low power multi-core voice-enabled SoCs, embedded FPGA IP, display bridge and programmable logic solutions, today announced a partnership with DSP Concepts, Inc., a global developer of embedded audio digital signal processing solutions. The two companies have teamed up to increase adoption of voice recognition, voice control and cloud-based AI assistants in mobile and battery-operated devices.

The DSP Concepts Audio Weaver Voice UI (User Interface) is now supported on the QuickLogic EOS™ S3 Sensor Processing Platform. DSP Concepts' multi-microphone beamforming and noise suppression software extends the reach of QuickLogic's voice recognition features into real-world environments, even places that are very noisy. Users are no longer restricted from accessing their cloud-based AI assistants when in the subway, on city sidewalks or in local cafes. Hardware implementation of Sensory Inc.'s Low Power Sound Detector (LPSD), combined with QuickLogic's expertise in low-power System-on-a-Chip (SoC) design, delivers a solution that lets these systems operate reliably on battery power in even the most challenging environments.

"We are witnessing a 'Cambrian explosion' around voice command. This is the new way people want to interact with their devices," said Paul Beckmann, founder and chief technology officer of DSP Concepts. "The addition of DSP Concepts' Audio Weaver Voice UI to their existing partnership with Sensory Inc. positions QuickLogic to deliver a comprehensive set of always-on/listening capabilities while achieving critical battery life requirements."

"We're completely focused on delivering an enhanced user experience for voice-activated products, and the DSP Concepts Audio Weaver Voice UI technology fits that objective perfectly," said Brian Faith, president and CEO of QuickLogic Corporation. "Adding the ability to support noisy environments completes a critical part of the QuickLogic ecosystem for voice."

Availability

The DSP Concepts Audio Weaver Voice UI will be available on the QuickLogic EOS S3 Sensor Processing platform at the end of March 2018.
