Lattice Semiconductor Joins the HyperTransport Consortium

SUNNYVALE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—September 6, 2007— Further demonstrating broad momentum and adoption of HyperTransport(TM) interconnect technology, the HyperTransport Technology Consortium today announced that Lattice Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: LSCC), a leading supplier of programmable logic solutions, has joined the organization.

"HyperTransport technology is central to our strategy of ensuring that customers have the IP cores they need to rapidly deploy performance-leading systems in a variety of markets such as networking and computing," said Stan Kopec, Lattice's corporate vice president of marketing. "Our high-level membership in the Consortium enables us to influence the direction of the standard and to gain the advanced visibility on HyperTransport developments that will give us the ability to meet our customers' present and future performance objectives."

Boasting the industry's fastest implementation of HyperTransport technology in FPGA platforms to date, Lattice is offering the HyperTransport I/O as part of its Masked Array for Cost Optimization (MACO) structured ASIC technology, and has characterized the HyperTransport I/O link to operate at rates up to 1.6 Gbps. HyperTransport technology, combined with Lattice's own high-speed SERDES, high-performance fabric and industry-leading embedded ASIC technology, gives designers a powerful platform for satisfying their high-performance bridging and coprocessing needs.

"The addition of a leading FPGA supplier like Lattice demonstrates the on-going need for increased compute performance and throughput in fully scalable, application-specific computing systems and subsystems," said Mario Cavalli, general manager of the HyperTransport Consortium. "We welcome Lattice to the HyperTransport Consortium and look forward to leveraging their technology expertise and contribution to further enhance the HyperTransport standard."

About Membership in the HyperTransport Consortium

The HyperTransport Consortium offers four membership classes. All membership classes, except Academic, have royalty-free license rights to market products based on HyperTransport technology and trademarks. Membership levels and benefits include:

-- Promoter - For companies seeking participation at the highest level of the Consortium Executive Team's strategy- and decision-making through a seat on the Consortium's Board of Directors. These members receive the widest range of technical, marketing and business promotion benefits offered by the Consortium, advance visibility and direct influence (voting rights) on HyperTransport developments via the Consortium's Technical Working Group (TWG), as well as a royalty-free license of HyperTransport technology and HyperTransport trademarks.

-- Contributor - For companies seeking an extensive range of technical, marketing and business promotion benefits offered by the Consortium. These members receive advance visibility and direct influence (voting rights) on HyperTransport developments via the Consortium's Technical Working Group (TWG), as well as a royalty-free license of HyperTransport technology and HyperTransport trademarks.

-- Adopter - For companies in need of basic technical information access, limited company promotion benefits offered by the Consortium, as well as a royalty-free license of HyperTransport technology and HyperTransport trademarks.

-- Academic - This class is reserved exclusively for academic institutions and non-profit organizations seeking comprehensive, member-only technical information on HyperTransport technology. Academic members have no commercial license to HyperTransport technology and HyperTransport trademarks.

About the HyperTransport(TM) Technology Consortium

The HyperTransport Technology Consortium is a membership-based, non-profit organization that licenses, manages and promotes HyperTransport Technology. The HyperTransport Consortium was founded in 2001 by leading technology innovators like Advanced Micro Devices, Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, NVIDIA, PMC-Sierra and Sun Microsystems and counts on more than 50 industry-leading member companies worldwide, including Dell, HP and IBM. Membership is based on a yearly fee and it is open to companies interested in licensing the royalty-free use of HyperTransport technology and intellectual property. Consortium members have full access to the HyperTransport technical documents database, they may attend Consortium meetings and events and may benefit from a variety of technical and marketing services, including the new, member-driven web portal, whose business benefits are part of a wide array of services offered by the Consortium free of charge to member companies.
