Magma's Titan Analog/Mixed-Signal Design Platform Nominated by EDN Magazine for Innovation of the Year Award

Integrated Full-Chip Analog/Mixed-Signal Design, Analysis, Verification and Migration Platform Delivers Better QoR and Turnaround Time

SAN JOSE, Calif., Feb. 4, 2009 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Magma® Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of chip design software, today announced that Titan, a full-chip analog/mixed-signal design, analysis and verification platform, has been selected as a finalist for this year's EDN Innovation Awards.

Unlike other design solutions, the Titan platform tightly integrates analog/custom design implementation with Magma's digital implementation, circuit simulation, transistor-level extraction and verification. Titan Chip Finishing and Titan Analog Migration are key components of the platform. Titan Chip Finishing is a fast, high-capacity system that provides complete and automated chip finishing. Titan Analog Migration allows designers to capture designer know-how in a structured and repeatable format and to optimize circuits to given specifications using mathematical optimization techniques.

"Offering an unmatched level of integration and automation, Titan allows analog/mixed-signal designers to deliver ICs with better quality of results (QoR) with less effort and in less time," said Suk Lee, general manager of Magma's Custom Design Business Unit. "The nomination for an EDN Innovation Award validates that Titan is a quantum leap in the evolution of mixed-signal design."

About the EDN Innovation Awards

The EDN Innovation Awards honor outstanding engineering professionals and products and recognize unique, state-of-the-art electronics products in key categories. The Innovator of the Year award recognizes an electronics engineer or engineering team for innovation in product design or technical leadership.

In addition to honoring these people and products, EDN donates a portion of the proceeds from the nominations and the awards event to an engineering college or university chosen by the Innovator of the Year. It's EDN's way of encouraging and supporting tomorrow's great minds.

The EDN Innovation Awards carry special meaning because the winners are chosen by a jury of their peers. After an open nomination period, a panel of EDN editors selects finalists in each category. Then EDN's audience of engineers and engineering managers votes to select the final winners using an online ballot. To cast a vote for Titan, visit www.EDN.com/innovation. Winners will be announced at an awards event March 30 in San Jose.
