Chartered Appoints New Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing

SINGAPORE—(BUSINESS WIRE)—April 6, 2009— Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing (Nasdaq:CHRT) (SGX-ST:Chartered), one of the world’s top dedicated foundries, today announced Ian Chapman-Banks has joined the company as senior vice president of worldwide sales and marketing, effective immediately.

Chapman-Banks brings more than 20 years of experience in management, sales, marketing and business development to Chartered. Most recently, he served as corporate vice president/general manager, Motorola Mobile Devices Asia Pacific, leading its sales, customer support, strategy and go-to-market operations. At Chartered, Chapman-Banks will be responsible for the company’s global sales and marketing activities, strategic and business development, and customer support. He reports directly to Chia Song Hwee, president & CEO.

Prior to his position at Motorola, Chapman-Banks held positions at Microsoft’s Home and Entertainment Division, Apple, Xerox, and Astra Zeneca Pharmaceuticals & Aventis. Chapman-Banks has lived and worked in Asia for more than 12 years. He holds a bachelor of science degree in applied chemistry from Sheffield Hallam University, England, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, USA.
