FANUC Robotics Introduces New M-410iB/140H High-Speed Palletizing Robot at Pack Expo 2010

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — October 28, 2010 — FANUC Robotics America will demonstrate the speed and compact design of its new M-410iB/140H intelligent palletizing robot at PACK EXPO International 2010, held Oct. 31-Nov. 3, at McCormick Place, Chicago, booth N-3406.

Ideally suited for high-volume production in bag and box palletizing operations, the new M-410iB/140H is the latest member of the M-410iB family of palletizing robots. It features a 140kg payload and a slim arm and wrist design with integrated cable routing to minimize interference with tooling and other peripheral devices. A compact size allows it to work in small spaces with low ceiling heights.

At the show, the five-axis, M-410iB/140H equipped with iRVision® 2D will palletize and depalletize boxes and bags to show the robot’s versatility and speed.

“The M-410iB/140H is an extremely fast palletizing robot,” said Jay Strybis, product manager, FANUC Robotics. “It’s capable of performing 1,900 standard palletizing cycles an hour. That's one cycle (moving 400mm up and down and 2000mm horizontally) in less than two seconds, making it the fastest palletizing robot in its class.”

The robot also features a large work envelope that when combined with its high-speed operation allows a single M-410iB/140H to service multiple lines in high-volume environments.

The M-410iB series includes five model variations including the M-410iB/140H (140kg payload), M-410iB/160 (160 kg payload), M-410iB/300 (300 kg payload), M-410iB/450 (450 kg payload), and the M-410iB/700 (700 kg payload). Available options include row and layer end-of-arm tooling for higher throughput applications, and fork grippers for handling bags, bundles, trays, pails or open-end cases.

The M-410iB/140H robot offers a wide range of benefits, including:

  • Achieves palletizing speeds up to 1900 cycles per hour (bags or boxes)
  • Compact wrist minimizes interference with peripheral devices
  • Integrated cable routing speeds up system installation and avoids cable snags
  • Compact design allows installation into low-ceiling factories and tight work spaces
  • Proven, reliable FANUC servo drives highest uptime and productivity.
  • Able to operate in environments ranging from harsh to traditional factory floor
  • Can be mounted on the floor or a platform/riser
  • Operates with the company’s latest R-30iA controller with integrated intelligent functions such as iRVision, Collision Guard, ROBOGUIDE, PalletTool and PalletPRO software.

FANUC iRVision

FANUC’s iRVision is a truly integrated, plug-and-go vision system that runs on the standard CPU of every FANUC R-30iA controller without any additional hardware. A single source solution developed and supported by FANUC, iRVision offers easy setup and operation for factory environments requiring 2D and 3D guidance, error proofing, visual tracking, and quality control – all with FANUC’s world-renowned reliability.

At Pack Expo, over 50 FANUC robot demonstrations will be featured by FANUC Robotics and its integration partners including: AFA Systems, Arrowhead Systems, Brenton Engineering, Conveyor & Automation Technologies, Inc., Consolidated Technologies, Flexicell, Inc., Focke & Co., Formost Fuji Corporation, Hartness International, Inc., Jennerjahn Machine, Kleenline Corporation, Langen Packaging Inc., Omega Design Corporation, Palligistics, LLC, PASCO, Premier Tech Systems, Qcomp, R.A.
