SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Aug 18, 2011 -- Magellan® GPS announced a promotion that allows customers in the U.S. and Canada to trade in any GIS data collection device in exchange for $75 off a new Magellan GIS eXplorist Pro 10 device, a rugged, waterproof, handheld GPS device that runs Windows Mobile® 6.5 for high accuracy GIS data collection. Magellan is accepting any GIS data collection device -- from Magellan or another manufacturer -- in exchange for the $75 discount off a new Magellan GIS eXplorist Pro 10 device. The trade-in program will be executed by Magellan regional resellers.

"Magellan eXplorist GPS/GIS devices are accurate, flexible and affordable," said Sunnie Tsai, Director of Enterprise Product Marketing at Magellan GPS. "We want our customers to benefit from the latest features and capabilities of the eXplorist Pro 10 device. The device delivers 3-5 meters of accuracy in real time and works with supported Bluetooth-enabled GPS receivers to provide 1-3 meters or even sub-meter accuracy. Powered by Windows Mobile v6.5 OS, the Pro 10 device allows GIS professionals to run powerful GIS data collection software, including ESRI's ARcPad 10 and a wide range of Windows Mobile data collection applications.

The eXplorist Pro 10 device offers an integrated high-sensitivity SIRFstar III GPS receiver and Multidirectional Patch antenna, integrated Bluetooth 2.0 wireless technology, integrated camera, 3D compass, pressure altimeter and barometer, a WQVGA display with 16-bit color and a transflective touch screen that is sunlight-readable. The GIS eXplorist Pro10 device is also available in 12 languages to support users worldwide.

"The Pro 10 device is one of the most cost-effective GIS handheld GPS devices available," said Sunnie Tsai. "With this trade-in offer, Magellan removes barriers to adoption, enabling GIS professionals access to the most advanced handheld GPS/GIS technology on the market today."
