Call for entries for 2014 INSIDE - World Festival of Interiors Awards

The 2014 INSIDE World Festival of Interiors (with headline partner Dulux) – now an annual fixture in the interior design world calendar – is open for business, and is inviting award entries from around the globe.

The awards programme forms the core of the festival and will be judged by more than 20 distinguished international designers and editors. Architect David Kohn, winner of last year’s prize with his Carrer Avinyo apartment in Barcelona, joins the jury alongside other major names in international design, including Nigel Coates (now Associate Director of the Festival), Matteo Thun, Jaya Ibrahim, Pernilla Ohrstedt, Joey Ho and Voon Wong.

Projects can be entered in 13 different categories, ranging from grand civic spaces and transportation hubs to bars, clubs and shops.

Designers of shortlisted entries will travel to Singapore to present their designs live to judges and delegates. Category winners re-present their designs to a super-jury on the final day, with the World Interior of the Year winner revealed at a Gala Awards Dinner on Friday 3 October.

INSIDE runs concurrently with WAF (World Architecture Festival) and together they promote the world’s biggest international architecture and interior design awards programme. More than 500 entries were submitted in 2013, with 2,100 attendees at the Festivals.

Alongside INSIDE’s live crits, the Festival includes an exhibition of all entries and an inspirational talks programme which this year will focus on ‘mind and body'. The festival will be housed in a truly inspirational space on the top floor of the Marina Bay Sands convention centre, Singapore, designed by Moshe Safdie.

INSIDE has its own specially commissioned, pop-up bar, the INSIDE bookstore and other curated exhibits. All INSIDE attendees have access to the full WAF programme including its talks, award crits and social events.

Commenting on this year’s Festivals, Programme Director Paul Finch said:

‘We are delighted to be back in Singapore for our third year, and look forward to another inspirational event, with architects and designers from across the world. Last year saw representatives of nearly 70 countries and we hope that will increase.

‘The awards programme is a marvellous opportunity to showcase how designers are responding to challenges, some similar, some specific to their area or region, in ways that address creatively the needs of clients and users. Entries provide a snapshot of current concerns and trends, and we look forward to seeing more great designs from the widest range of professional practices.’

The closing date for all entries is 30 May 2014 and for full details of this year’s event and to enter the awards visit www.insidefestival.com
