GibbsCAM support of Nakamura Tome Multi-tasking Turning Centers to be demonstrated

MOORPARK, CA – May 2, 2006 – Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, announced today that GibbsCAM will be featured at the upcoming Nakamura Tome Turning Open House to be hosted by Methods Machine Tools, Nakamura Tome's exclusive USA Distributor, in Sudbury, Massachusetts, on May 3rd - 4th. GibbsCAM's ability to support Nakamura Tome's various multi-task machining (MTM) turning centers will be demonstrated.

"As a strategic partner of Methods Machine Tools for a number of years, we are extremely pleased to support them at the Nakamura Tome Turning Open House," stated Bill Gibbs. "We continue to expand the set of MTM machine tools that GibbsCAM supports to keep pace with the growing demand for multi-tasking machine tools. GibbsCAM currently offers support across Nakamura Tome's full range of MTM turning centers. Visitors will be able to see actual programs generated by GibbsCAM for Nakamura Tome's WT-150 and TW-20 to evaluate the quality of code generated."

With twin spindles and up to four 12-station turrets, Nakamura Tome turning centers can perform primary and secondary operations on both sides of a part simultaneously. Using up to 24 live tools, they can turn, mill and bore in a single setup without operator handling, additional setup or breakdown, or work-in-process storage. Productivity and profitability can be further maximized through the addition of optional accessories such as tool probes, part probes, and bar feeders.

GibbsCAM's suite of programming solutions for turning, which range from production turning, to mill-turn, to advanced multi-task machining (with optional B-axis positioning support for 3- or 4-axis machining, as well as 5-axis simultaneous machining), will be demonstrated. In keeping with GibbsCAM's signature ease-of-use, these solutions maintain a level of usability which allows their powerful capability to be easily applied by the user. In addition, the full range of GibbsCAM functionality, including the new module supporting tombstone machining programming, will also be available for demonstration upon request.
