IBM Podcast Explores the Future of Energy

SAN MATEO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Sep 04, 2008 -- Increasingly, consumers are taking a proactive role in how they manage and conserve energy. A new IBM (NYSE: IBM) podcast, "IBM and the Future of Energy," looks at how consumers are driving change in the energy industry -- from the cars we drive to a growing demand for alternative energy sources and smart meters.

These important changes in energy management are being enabled by innovative technology and are not only driven by consumers, but also by companies large and small -- from venture-backed startups to energy and utility companies.

This podcast also explores how the energy grid is getting "smarter," and how consumers and utilities will ultimately benefit from this intelligence.

This "IBM and the Future of Energy" podcast features an interview with Mark van den Berg, a venture capitalist with Vantage Point Venture Partners. Vantage Point's portfolio includes clean tech startups focused on renewable energy, transportation and water. Also featured are Allan Schurr, VP of Strategy and Development for IBM's energy and utility industry, and Drew Clark, director of strategy for IBM's Venture Capital Group.
