MSC.Software Completes Multi-Phase Full Vehicle NVH Process Services Engagement for Hyundai

Leading Global Automotive Manufacturer Engages MSC.Software Professional Services Team to Optimize NVH Process, Increase Confidence in Simulated Models and Improve Performance and Quality

SANTA ANA, Calif., June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MSC.Software Corp. , the leading global provider of virtual product development (VPD) products including simulation software, services and systems, today announced the completion of a multi-year professional services engagement with Hyundai Motor Corp (HMC). The multi-million dollar engagement included successful optimization of vehicle designs for Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH), increasing Hyundai's confidence in simulated car models and ultimately improving the performance and quality of Hyundai's passenger cars.

"NVH is a very important part of virtual product development, especially for our automotive OEM customers who use our NVH technologies to improve the comfort, ride and handling, and performance characteristics of their cars," said Frank Perna, chairman and CEO of MSC.Software. "We pride ourselves on being able to provide the software, services and systems needed to help them develop better cars and deploy a better, more cost-effective product development process. We're very proud of our relationship with Hyundai and are confident that other automotive manufacturers and suppliers will work with us and find similar value and results."

"We chose MSC.Software because of their knowledge of the industry's best practices as it relates to simulation software and product development," said K.H. Park, Director in charge of CAE of HMC. "MSC.Software helped us meet our ambitious business and technical goals and gave us much better confidence in our NVH process and results."

The multi-phase project with Hyundai began in 1999 with a process audit and the first two phases, covering component-level and full vehicle level NVH analyses, have been recently completed. As a result of this, Hyundai has been able to establish and control frequency targets and response function targets for full vehicle models, as well as for components, body-in-white, and trimmed body analysis. Hyundai has integrated the improved NVH CAE process with their overall vehicle development CAE process. This has caused significant reductions in the time and cost of automotive prototype development, especially as it relates to component design and system design.
