Siemens Broadens Relationship with ANSYS

Three-Year Deal Includes ANSYS Mechanical, ICEM CFD Licenses

SOUTHPOINTE, Pa., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ANSYS Inc. , a global innovator of simulation software and technologies designed to optimize product development processes, today announced a deal anticipated to be worth more than $5 million over the next three years with Siemens. The three-year contract includes more than 200 seats of ANSYS software, as well as seats from the ANSYS ICEM CFD Product Suite and services.

This agreement speaks to the long-standing relationship that ANSYS has established with Siemens. ANSYS has provided Siemens with computer-aided engineering solutions for more than two decades. During that time, Siemens implemented ANSYS core simulation and virtual prototyping applications - such as ANSYS Mechanical - within the design process of a large number of different products.

"Siemens relies on ANSYS for its superior engineering software capabilities," said Gerhard Muller, Siemens PG IT. "Incorporating the ANSYS product family with the CAD-systems we are using has allowed us to maximize our design process while containing design costs."

"The various industries that Siemens supplies closely mirrors the markets served by ANSYS," said Joseph Fairbanks, vice president of worldwide sales and support at ANSYS. "Our ongoing relationship with Siemens signals their great confidence in the solutions ANSYS has provided to enhance their product development process. We value our relationship with this global leader, and we will continue to provide the premier technology solutions that they've depended on for 10 years."

About ANSYS

ANSYS Inc., founded in 1970, develops and globally markets engineering simulation software and technologies widely used by engineers and designers across a broad spectrum of industries. The Company focuses on the development of open and flexible solutions that enable users to analyze designs directly on the desktop, providing a common platform for fast, efficient and cost- conscious product development, from design concept to final-stage testing and validation. Headquartered in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania U.S.A. with more than 18 strategic sales locations throughout the world, ANSYS Inc. employs more than 600 people and distributes its ANSYS(R), DesignSpace(R), AI*NASTRAN, ICEM CFD Engineering and CFX(R) products through a network of channel partners in 37 countries. ANSYS ICEM CFD Product Suite provides state-of-the-art 3-D mesh generation software for CFD and FEA analysis. ICEM CFD products bridge the gap between CAD and CAE analysis and allow parametric design changes in CAD to be linked directly to CAE analysis, thus reducing time and cost-of-design iterations. Powerful and highly automated tools for geometry acquisition, geometry repair, mesh generation, mesh optimization, and post-processing are included to increase productivity while simulating 3-D models. ANSYS Mechanical(TM) structural/thermal simulation software package offers the highest level of simulation tools available on the market today. ANSYS Mechanical includes a full complement of nonlinear and linear elements, material laws ranging from metal to rubber, and the world's most comprehensive set of solvers. It works with the most complex assemblies-especially those involving nonlinear contact-and is especially geared toward determining stresses, temperatures, displacements and contact pressure distributions on all types of component and assembly designs.
