Viewpoint Construction Software Announces Deal to Acquire CIS Consulting Group

PORTLAND, Ore. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — January 5, 2011 — Viewpoint Construction Software has reached a definitive agreement to acquire select assets and resources of Charlotte, NC based CIS Consulting Group. CIS recently sold their Sage customer base and associated service and support organization to a major North American Sage reseller. With this news, Viewpoint entered into negotiations to acquire the remaining balance of CIS’ business assets and personnel including key sales, marketing and professional services representatives. Viewpoint plans to establish an east coast sales and professional services office in the current CIS building location to better serve their growing east coast customer base. “CIS is one of the largest construction accounting, consulting and software resellers in the U.S. and we look forward to their team bringing tremendous construction software specific knowledge and experience to assist Viewpoint in achieving its continuing growth objectives,” said Viewpoint CEO, Jay Haladay.

CIS Consulting Group’s principals, Chuck Elyea and Jim Campbell will continue to operate in leadership roles for Viewpoint from the Charlotte office location. Jim Campbell, a 31 year construction software veteran and former VP of Sales for Sage/Timberline prior to joining CIS, will become Viewpoint’s Sales Leader for International markets outside of North America and Channel Sales globally reporting directly to Viewpoint’s VP Sales, Maury Plumlee. Chuck Elyea, who has led CIS since founding it in 1987, will join Viewpoint’s marketing team and take on the role of Market Development Manager reporting directly to Viewpoint’s Director of Marketing, David De Rego. All of the other CIS employees joining Viewpoint will become integrated members of their respective functional teams, filling key positions that were planned for early 2011.

Continuing along on its strategic growth plan, Haladay emphasized, “Our core focus of developing and selling the finest construction software solutions to contractors will remain the same. Ultimately, this acquisition will enhance our ability to grow our presence domestically and provide us with some valuable resources to extend our growth globally.” Despite a difficult economic climate for many companies, Viewpoint continues to expand its reach from a growth and technology perspective. This acquisition is another strategic step in the company’s business objectives.
