Esri to Present Innovative Solutions at GITA's Geospatial Solutions Conference

Redlands, California—April 04, 2011—As energy and infrastructure professionals gather at the Geospatial Information & Technology Association's (GITA) upcoming 2011 Geospatial Solutions Conference, Esri will present intelligent approaches to challenges such as smart grid implementation, sustainable energy production, emergency management, and regulatory compliance.

The conference is scheduled for April 10–13, 2011, in Grapevine, Texas, located near Dallas. Visit Esri at booth #304 to see the latest demos and learn how you can deploy geographic information system (GIS) technology through web services and mobile technology.

Attendees are invited to join the paper session “GIS Provides Help during Major Electric Emergencies”, Monday, April 11, at 10:30 a.m., presented by Bill Meehan, Esri's director of utility solutions. Meehan will also collaborate with Gathen Garcia and Ted Kircher, of Public Service Company of New Mexico, to deliver a Feature Presentation on “Greater Use of GIS for Transmission,” Tuesday, April 12 at 1:00 p.m.

"We are exploring ways to extend GIS beyond maps and into emergency management tasks including risk assessment and mitigation, planning, recovery, and response," said Meehan. "Utility professionals will be amazed to see how far they can stretch the investment in GIS and how thoroughly they can prepare for an emergency by applying GIS tools."
