Intergraph's InService 8.3.1 Release Advances Smart Grid Technology, Delivers New Tools to Increase Operator Efficiency

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Oct. 7, 2011 — (PRNewswire) — Intergraph continues to be the leading provider of Outage Management System (OMS) solutions and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) with the announcement of general availability of InService 8.3.1. InService v8.3.1 completely supersedes v8.3 announced earlier this year. This product release further integrates real-time operations data within a consolidated command-and-control environment to better manage field crews and operate their geographically- dispersed electrical distribution infrastructure. InService 8.3.1 provides advanced outage management system functionality with further integration of Siemens Spectrum Power C-DNA to provide integrated power systems analysis, fault location and isolation and improved analytical tools for system operations.

Intergraph's InService 8.3.1 improves situational awareness in the control room with a number of improved visualization tools. Visualization enhancements improve operational efficiency for operators and dispatchers by eliminating congested map displays of distribution facilities and improving geographic display control for all or portions of the electrical distribution system.

To improve field crew productivity, InService v8.3.1 helps operators easily recognize outage patterns and quickly consolidate outages and transfer customer calls into one consolidated group for coordinated and efficient response of field crews. For improved management of outage response, InService 8.3.1 enables system operators and dispatchers to accurately reflect and keep track of temporary connections and switching in the field. Distribution system operators can also place temporary devices on the network to track actions taken in the field, allowing the dispatcher to reproduce the state of the network at any point in time.

"InService v8.3.1 is an important step in advancing Intergraph's vision for smart grid and network operations. Intergraph's goal is to be the premier supplier of Smart Grid Command and Control environments for electric utility distribution control room and dispatch operations," says Tony DiMarco, Executive Director of Global Utilities & Communications with Intergraph. "Intergraph's InService products improve control room situational awareness by using high-performance geospatial displays and integrated real time data for visualization. Streamlined workflows coupled with integrated outage and distribution management analytics leads the way in providing advanced information systems to modernize smart grid control and dispatch operations, reducing the chance for human error, improving operator and field crew productivity and improving system reliability and customer service."
