Oce North America Introduces the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer

Highly productive and cost-effective way to produce posters for digital print providers, retailers and offset printers

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 19, 2011 — (PRNewswire) — SGIA booth #1519 -- Oce, a Canon Group Company and an international leader in digital document management and printing for professionals, today announced that the Oce ColorWave® 600 Poster Printer is now available in the United States. This system produces short-term, retail-quality, brilliant color prints at production speeds. The Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer is on display in the Oce booth #1519 at the Specialty Graphic & Imaging Association's (SGIA) annual convention and exposition held October 19-21 in New Orleans.

Designed for cost-effective, high production poster printing, the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer uses patented Oce CrystalPoint® imaging technology to produce instantly dry, water-resistant prints that are cut-to-size and ready for immediate use. Up to six rolls of media from 11 to 42 inches wide can be loaded into the printer at one time, so the system is ready to produce posters of varying widths or media types, eliminating the need to change media between jobs and the need to manually trim standard sized jobs.

Shifting the production of posters from traditional inkjet printers to the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer reduces labor per print and media costs. Operators can be freed up for other tasks, since the system can run unattended at full production speed and, with the roll-to-sheet feature, no manual trimming is required for standard sized jobs. The Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer reduces media costs as well. It delivers high quality prints on a range of media from inexpensive uncoated bond paper to specialty media.

Ideal for short-run or quick-turnaround poster printing

Digital print providers, retailers and offset printers can use this system to increase throughput and reduce production costs for quick-turnaround posters and event materials.

For the digital print provider, the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer can help meet clients' tight deadlines, while delivering consistently exceptional output. It prints at production speeds up to 926 square feet per hour of roll-to-sheet output with no post-print finishing required for standard-sized jobs. It also features collated set printing, so a print provider can print and deliver an entire campaign -- including banners, posters and flyers -- in a single business day.

The Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer gives retailers the ability to move time-critical jobs in-house, which enables them to quickly react to regional, seasonal and competitive market conditions while potentially lowering costs over outsourcing.

For offset printers, the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer can help open doors to new business opportunities. Printers can take on short-run digital jobs -- posters, banners, flyers and more -- that are cost-prohibitive to run on their offset presses because with this system, there are no make-ready hard costs.

Media handling options add flexibility and increase productivity

In addition to the standard top delivery tray, which can hold up to 100 plain paper prints, two media handling options are available for the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer.

A stacker is available that can automatically sort up to 150 sheets of paper and deliver them onto a flat tray at the back of the printer. The stacker is customer-installable and easily movable. It is especially suited to handle heavier media (120 gsm and up).

A take-up unit is available for roll-to-roll printing. This option is ideal for unattended printing on paper, banner material or self-adhesive vinyl that will later be cut on an automated cutter such as the Oce ProCut™ system.

Revolutionary poster printing technology

Specially designed for a poster printing application, the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer uses Oce TonerPearls® solid toner and Oce CrystalPoint imaging technology to produce consistent, high quality prints. Lines are crisp and sharp, revealing fine details and consistent, solid colors.

Importantly, the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer has been designed for consistency of print quality within a run.  Print 1,000 will have the same quality as print 1 within the job.

With Oce TonerPearls toner, there's no fine dust, odor or harmful emissions so the printer can be placed nearly anywhere. The prints from the Oce ColorWave 600 Poster Printer can be used inside office buildings, meeting centers and retail stores as there are no emissions or fumes.

The system's ergonomic design makes it very easy to use. An operator standing in one spot can access nearly all functional areas of the printer, including the touch-screen operator panel, front loadable media drawers, Oce TonerPearls cartridges and the top media delivery tray.
