New Version of Trimble Field Link Software Incorporates Dynamic Joystick Feature to Increase Control of Construction Layout Tasks for the Mechanical, Engineering, Plumbing and Structures Trades

New Feature Provides User Activated, Tap and Drag Interaction for Real-Time Positioning of Trimble Robotic Total Stations

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 21, 2011 — (PRNewswire) —  Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced  today  a new version of its field software suite designed to simplify routine construction layout tasks while increasing overall productivity and accuracy — Trimble® Field Link 1.1 for MEP and Structures trades. The new version features a drag and point feature known as "Dynamic Joystick" that provides the user with fluid control over Trimble Robotic Total Stations via on-screen gestures directly on the solution's Trimble Tablet.

Trimble Field Link was released earlier this year as a tablet-based alternative to Trimble's existing construction layout solutions; Trimble MEP and Trimble LM80. Building on existing functionality, Trimble Field Link now allows the user to simply drag their finger or stylus around the tablet screen to control the Trimble Robotic Total Station in fluid, real-time movement.  This feature enables contractors to more finitely control the total station — easily stopping the laser pointer on a desired point location.  In conjunction with the laser pointer, the new Dynamic Joystick feature allows the user to step away from behind the total station scope and control the instrument.

"With the addition of the Dynamic Joystick feature in Trimble Field Link software, we are demonstrating a commitment to driving innovation fueled by the desire to bring increased productivity to field-based processes," said Pat Bohle, general manager of Trimble's Building Construction Division. "Leveraging platforms like Trimble Field Link, we will continue to push the envelope — bridging the gap between the office and the field."

Trimble Field Link 1.1 is available now through Trimble's Authorized Distributors of layout solutions for MEP and Structures contractors.
