“Services Industrielles de Genève (SIG)” implements AED-SICAD ArcFM UT

Geneva / Munich, November 2011: Suisse-based “Services Industrielles de Genève (SIG)”, the multi-utility for the city of Geneva, Switzerland, decided after a successful pilot phase to implement the AED-SICAD ArcFM UT product suite including sewage. SIG is also the supplier for the Canton Geneva, thus in total serving approx. 400 000 inhabitants.

SIG has been working with GIS technologies since the end of the 90ies. In 2010 they decided to replace the aging technology with a state-of-the-art and modern GIS technology and also to centralize all data and configuration parameters in a central database for ease of IT and data maintenance. Since the Canton of Geneva was using already Esri, the choice of Esri as base technology was a consequent decision for ease of interoperability and data exchange. The utility application based on Esri was selected in fall 2010 through a stringent, mostly user-driven, point-based selection process. The AED-SICAD ArcFM UT product suite was chosen and after a 4-month pilot phase, the implementation phase started in fall 2011. It is an ambitious project, where ArcFM UT will be implemented for all branches (electricity, water, gas, district heating, sewage) and tightly integrated with SAP. Obviously, ArcFM UT will be supplied in its French language version.
