City’s Walkable, Sustainable, Urban Environment Attracts Young Professional Talent
PHILADELPHIA – May 17, 2012 Be Together: The Bentley User Conference Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, celebrated the opening of its new satellite office in Philadelphia yesterday evening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter. Philadelphia’s walkable, sustainable, urban environment was selected as the ideal location for this satellite office to Bentley’s corporate headquarters in Exton, Pa., to appeal to young engineering talent from top colleges and universities across the nation and around the world, including from the many renowned engineering schools in and around the city. Located on the 16th floor of Three Parkway, at 1601 Cherry Street, the new office, which will accommodate 50 Bentley colleagues, underscores the company’s commitment to environmental stewardship by being energy efficient and consuming minimal resources. The building features on-site bicycle racks, building-wide light sensors, a recycling program, and energy-efficient HVAC systems, and is easily accessible by public transportation.
Mayor Nutter said, “It is truly a pleasure to welcome back Bentley Systems as a resident company in the heart of Philadelphia. The growth potential and well-being of any city rests in its ability to retain and attract talented young professionals with the promise of good career opportunities. Bentley’s great success as a provider of innovative technology solutions is just the kind of business partner the city needs. My thanks go to the Bentley brothers for continuing to promote job creation and economic growth in our region.”
Bentley Systems CEO Greg Bentley said, “Our history with Philadelphia began 28 years ago when my brothers Keith and Barry, in their new startup, came to the University City Science Center for the computer resources available there. This week our annual Be Together user conference is being held in the city’s Pennsylvania Convention Center, where thousands of engineers from 27 countries are now gathered – and were welcomed by Mayor Nutter to inaugurate our conference.
“We selected Philadelphia for our satellite office as an appealing, productive environment for young engineering professionals to work closely with our headquarters’ team in Exton. In our sales and marketing, we will invite infrastructure professionals from around the world to visit Philadelphia to compare notes. From the 16th floor of Three Parkway, we and they can view the crossroads of infrastructure and culture that is Philadelphia – a wonderful montage of utility, transportation, commercial, and institutional facilities amidst rich historical architecture.”
He concluded, “On behalf of my Bentley colleagues, I want to thank Mayor Nutter – a great regional leader – and the City of Philadelphia for this warm welcome.”
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony and Mayor Nutter’s address, Bentley hosted a reception at its new office for city officials, Bentley colleagues, and international users attending the Be Together conference.
