UKMap® Web Map Service (WMS) Released
The GeoInformation Group, publishers of mapping and geospatial information products, has launched a new hosted online service to deliver UKMap’s large scale mapping of Greater London.
The UKMap Web Map Service (WMS) provides an OGC compliant hosted service with access to the very latest version of UKMap and its high resolution aerial photography layer within one WMS feed.
This service enables professional users to gain immediate access to key geographic information about London, including; building outlines, retail locations, land use, tree locations, points of interest and road features. What’s more, because it’s a secure hosted service, it frees up the clients’ internal network and costs associated with the storage of detailed and large volume datasets.
The simple benefit of this service is that by entering a URL into any desktop or web GIS, users can easily access and quickly deploy UKMap mapping and aerial imagery layers across an organisation. This makes it the perfect solution for professionals to visualise, analyse, compare or share maps quickly and online with colleagues, customers or subcontractors.
The UKMap WMS map includes:
- Building outlines, including Residential, Commercial, Non-commercial, Sheds and Outbuildings
- House numbers
- Street names
- Points of interest
- Locality names
- Pavements and other walking areas
- Road crossings
- Trees
- Land cover: eg garden, parks, water, roads, etc
- 10cm resolution aerial photography
The quality of map presentation and communication is improved with UKMap WMS. Users can create their own stunning, bespoke and stylised web maps by combining their own overlays, graphics and map pins.
