SQS Launches PLM Test Automation Framework for Teamcenter from Siemens PLM Software

June 25, 2012 - SQS Software Quality Systems (AIM:SQS), the world’s leading specialist in software quality, today announced its launch of a product lifecycle management (PLM) test automation framework for Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter® portfolio, the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management software. The framework enables reliable and scalable automated testing of Teamcenter installations, helping Siemens PLM Software’s customers minimise downtime and ensure high levels of quality when customising, deploying and integrating other PLM products.

SQS has worked with Siemens PLM Software for seven years. In 2010 SQS started developing the automation framework which is now available worldwide to Siemens PLM Software’s customers.

The automation framework ensures optimal testing coverage, shortens release cycles, reduces the risk of costly software failures and alleviates pressure on internal teams. Automated regression testing also enables reliable and quick business-critical functionality to be maintained when Siemens PLM Software updates and patches are applied.

SQS will deliver the automation framework from its Test Automation FaQtory™, a facility that applies industrial processes to manage and execute automated testing for large scale environments. Multiple versions of Teamcenter were tested using the framework with approximately 5,000 automated test cases that were executed 46,000 times.

Eric Sterling, senior vice president of Lifecycle Collaboration Software for Siemens PLM Software said of the partnership, “Our partnership with SQS has allowed us to automate a significant portion of the regression test suite we use to validate the base Teamcenter product release as well any corrections necessary on top of the base release. We believe this has been a significant contributor to the increased reliability of Teamcenter 8 and Teamcenter 9. We are excited to partner with SQS to offer this test framework to our customers so that they can leverage the power of this investment for their own Teamcenter test harness.”

Diederik Vos, Chief Operating Officer at SQS, comments on the agreement, “Our partnership allows Siemens PLM Software’s customers to benefit from a proven, industrialised and unique software testing capability. Along with our          Test Automation FaQtory, SQS brings a wealth of software testing experience, and our experts have already engaged with some major companies using Siemens PLM Software’s products.Through this partnership, we have the opportunity to play a central role in Siemens PLM Software’s quality management.

SQS is expanding its automation framework to include additional Siemens PLM Software product suites, as well as other CAD and ERP solutions that interface with Siemens PLM Software’s technology.

SQS is the first pure-play testing company to join the Siemens partnership program.
