Dassault Systèmes Launches “Smart, Safe & Connected Car” Industry Solution Experience

New Transportation & Mobility Solution Experience for Embedded Systems Helps Automakers Develop Smarter and Safer Vehicles

VELIZY-VILLACOUBLAY, France — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 11, 2012Dassault Systèmes (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), the 3DEXPERIENCE Company, world leader in 3D design software, 3D Digital Mock Up and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, announced today the launch of a new industry solution experience for the automotive segment, “Smart, Safe & Connected Car” - a solution that accelerates the development of embedded systems while achieving ISO26262 safety standards and AUTOSAR compliancy.

Electronics and software currently represent over 80% of vehicle innovation, with much of that focused on active or passive safety, entertainment and performance. Recognizing this trend, leading automotive industry players have worked together to develop the Automotive Open System Architecture (AUTOSAR) standard. Additionally, automakers are tasked with meeting the new ISO26262 Electric/Electronic functional safety standard, which requires complete process documentation, analysis and verification.

Dassault Systèmes’ “Smart, Safe & Connected Car” industry solution experience is comprised of multiple applications implemented in a modular approach and focused on early virtual vehicle validation. With this solution, automakers can successfully manage vehicle complexity by uniting various disconnected domain specific tools on a single platform, thus enabling dynamic testing of multiple systems engineering disciplines. Users can achieve knowledge re-use, safety targets and reduction of embedded electronics development time and cost.

“Our customers want to develop the smartest and safest vehicles possible so that their consumers can fully enjoy their driving experience,” said Monica Menghini, Executive Vice President, Industry and Marketing, Dassault Systèmes. “With this solution we are directly addressing the challenge of managing increasing vehicle complexity by enriching our Vehicle Systems Solution Experience. Our 3DEXPERIENCE platform enables the integration of mechanical, electronic, and software systems to simulate and validate the digital vehicle. This solution will help our customers move from vehicle attribute to vehicle experience, leading to shortened time to market and increased product quality of complex embedded systems.”

"Thanks to the combination of Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and CESSAR AUTOSAR product line, including Basic Software and Software Configurations Tools for ECUs, opportunities to optimize the development lifecycle from very early stages to the final application for the series production will remarkably increase," said Dr. Stefan Stoelzl, Managing Director, Continental Engineering Services. "We look forward to continuing our ongoing collaboration with Dassault Systèmes and its Smart, Safe & Connected Car capabilities."

Dassault Systèmes will demonstrate its “Smart, Safe & Connected Car” Industry Solution Experience at this week’s 22nd Annual International Council On Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Symposium in Rome, Italy (July 9-12). Visit Booth #G5/G6 for more information.
