Xilinx Spotlights All Programmable Technology for Increased System Performance at NIWeek 2012

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug. 6, 2012 — (PRNewswire) — �Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced its participation at NIWeek 2012, booth #618, August 6-9, 2012 at the Austin Convention Center. Larry Getman, Xilinx vice president, processing platforms marketing, will kick off Xilinx activities at the Future of System Design Symposium, where he will deliver a keynote on the evolution of 'all programmable' platforms and system design tools. During the week, both Xilinx and National Instruments will highlight how they have collaborated to extend the value of programmable technology that is enabling its customers to develop accelerated systems targeting a wide variety of applications. As a celebration of Xilinx and NI technology innovation, Xilinx will also present the featured award, "The NI LabVIEW FPGA Innovation Award," which recognizes the paper that details the most original application using the NI LabVIEW system design software to program the field programmable gate array (FPGA) in NI hardware. Through a symposium keynote, in-booth demonstrations, technical presentations and expert panels, attendees will learn how NI and Xilinx solutions accelerate productivity and system performance.

Xilinx programmable logic technology continues to increase in performance while becoming lower in power and cost compared to traditional DSPs. Programmable logic has proven to be an ideal hardware technology in the power electronics field for high-performance signal processing and inverter control. In this session, Xilinx and NI will compare Xilinx programmable hardware solutions and DSPs for power electronics applications as well as illustrate the hardware tools, software tools, and IP cores used for prototyping and deploying high-performance power electronics control systems faster.

Learn how innovative All Programmable SoCs are enabling unprecedented levels of components integration, power reduction, design productivity and performance to systems used for motor control, image/video processing and many other applications.

Exhibition Demos
Through the week, Xilinx will exhibit in-booth demonstrations featuring Xilinx and NI technologies that are enabling advanced robotic and medical applications. Xilinx and NI will showcase the Delta Robot demonstration showing a mechanism for transferring motors and highlights customizable inverse kinematic implementation, precise control using Xilinx FPGAs, and a reconfigurable I/O and communication interface. In addition, the two companies will also demonstrate a CATALYS laser cataract surgery device using high-performance Xilinx FPGAs and LabVIEW FPGA software to optimize the precision, safety and control of cataract removal surgery.
