3DA Systems Inc.’s 3D PDF Converter for Revit® Now Available in Autodesk Exchange Apps Store

3DA Systems Inc.’s 3D PDF Converter for Revit®  App for Autodesk Revit Architecture, MEP and Structure Helps Users to supports lightweight collaboration of Autodesk Revit files through data-rich 3D PDF generation

Victoria, British Columbia (August 20th, 2012) – 3DA Systems Inc. has launched its new 3D PDF Converter for Revit® App on the Autodesk Exchange Apps store for Autodesk Revit® Architecture, MEP and Structure. The 3D PDF Converter for Revit® is designed to connect the extensive Building Information Modeling (BIM) community for the first time with a Revit® plug-in that supports data sharing using 3D PDF based on the PRC file format. The result is accurate, data-rich 3D models that are up to 97% smaller than the original Revit file.

The Autodesk Exchange Apps store  is a portal to the Autodesk Revit software ecosystem, providing access to add-ins that allows designers to find and immediately download solutions to some of their more pressing challenges, specifically; 3D visualization and virtual tours, reducing design and management costs through easily communicated data, improving the accuracy and speed of estimates, data archiving for long term security and accessibility, and easily tracking changes and access all the model information for CAD users and non CAD users alike.  The Autodesk Exchange Apps store was recently expanded to include apps for products including AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Revit. Customers are now able to access The Autodesk Exchange Apps store both directly on the Web and from within Autodesk products.

The new 3D PDF Converter for Revit® app allows you to share all your design and construction data with anyone, anywhere with the free Adobe® Reader, enabling everyone on the extended team to participate in the building information modeling process (BIM), without the need to own expensive CAD software or proprietary viewers. From within the Autodesk’s Revit® environment, the 3D PDF Converter for Revit® will export all elements directly to 3D PDF from the 3D view directly from Revit’s Add-In Menu. Alternative 3D model views can also be exported from copies or view ports, allowing you to select defined model Orient Views – i.e. Sections, Elevations, Plane views separately.

“We welcome 3DA Systems as an early participant in the Autodesk Exchange Apps store – the 3D PDF Converter for Revit® App is a great example of the range of valuable add-ins easily available to customers from within the design and engineering products they use every day,” said Jim Quanci, director of the Autodesk Developer Network.  “The 3D PDF Converter for Revit® is a full function add-in to Autodesk Revit’s software, offering more robust functionality to all Autodesk customers in the industry who rely on Autodesk Revit® for their design projects.”

“We recognized that there was an urgent need for Revit users to join the broader movement of 3D data sharing through 3D PDF,” says Michael Schell, President of 3DA Systems. “The 3D PDF Converter for Revit fills that need, and helps save time while removing many of the obstacles when passing data across all the teams working on a project.  Our goal in creating the 3D PDF Converter for Revit was for our customers to display their valuable data with the highest integrity and portability.”
