August 30, 2012 - Sescoi will be previewing innovations within its range of productivity manufacturing software at IMTS at McCormick Place in Chicago from September 10th to 15th. Visitors to Sescoi’s booth (E-3236) will be able to see live and first hand the ease of use, powerful algorithms and speed of WorkNC. If they book a demonstration in advance, they can see this demonstration on their own data, have and will have the chance of winning an iPad.

Visitors can also see WorkNC Hybrid Modeler which includes solid modeling and surfacing functionality. Included with the Hybrid modeler are the latest enhancements to automatic electrode extraction via WorkNC Electrode. Also on display is WorkNC’s NCspeed module for the optimization of CNC code.

WorkNC will also feature, and in some cases be used for live cutting, on a number of partners’ booths including Hurco, Datron, Hermle and Willemin Macodel. To illustrate the power and versatility of the software, a large range of show parts from around the world will be displayed on Sescoi’s booth including the Robot Head and Cylinder Block parts, well known to thousands of CNC fans on Facebook.

WorkNC CADCAM provides automatic programming of complex parts from 2D through to simultaneous 5-axis cutting.

• Its 64-bit technology allows fast handling of larger workzones and its parallel processing enables more than one cutterpath to be calculated at the same time.


• Its global roughing and finishing routines keep the tool in the material, generate smooth trajectories and eliminate shock loading of the cutter.


• Flat surface technology recognizes and machines flat areas irrespective of their orientation, shortening machining times and producing a superior surface finish.


• Intelligence within the software makes it easy to use the shortest tools while avoiding collisions, even for 5-axis cutting, minimizing inaccuracy due to vibration and tool deflection.


• For finishing operations the software defaults to climb milling and produces spiral transitions which minimize the number of retract moves and optimize cutting conditions.

WorkNC Electrode includes some exciting developments for IMTS and ease of use has been the guiding principle. Starting with the extraction and analysis of the CAD data, the software checks for draft angles and manufacturability, and keeps track of the location and orientation of the electrode. CAD tools allow the user to modify the electrode shape where necessary. Libraries of electrode blanks and holders from leading companies such as System 3R and Erowa enable the user to rapidly build up the complete electrode, adjusting it to suit the spark gap for roughing and finishing sizes. Machining across a range of electrodes rationalizes tool changes, cutting across all electrodes with the same tool using WorkNC’s automated strategies. Finally the datum for each electrode is maintained for accurate die sinking, while documentation and setup sheets are automatically generated.

IMTS will also premier Version 3 of the WorkXPlore 3D high speed, view, mark-up and analysis software. This is a major new release, available in 64 bit, which uses Brep technology to provide unprecedented accuracy for automatically identifying edge conditions which, in turn, improves features such as volume calculations, dimensioning and surface identification, even for STL files. The software can read in CAD data from the vast majority of leading CAD systems and can open several files simultaneously making it easy to share design data around an organization and its supply chain in a low cost and lightweight environment, encouraging collaborative and concurrent working.
