WEST SACRAMENTO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- Oct 02, 2012 -- Accela, Inc. today announced the City of West Sacramento, Calif., will deploy all of the core capabilities of Accela Automation® enterprise software, launching the City from older proprietary software and paper-based processes to a web-based service delivery model that promises greater efficiency, transparency, and engagement for city employees and citizens alike. Located across the Sacramento River from the California state capital, the City plans to expand online services to better serve its nearly 50,000 residents, with the goal of speeding response times, reducing errors, automating routine tasks, and empowering citizens to interact with service requests through an online interface.
As part of the phased implementation, Accela Automation's Land Management module will be deployed by the West Sacramento Community Development department in Summer 2013. The software will streamline processes for the department's Planning, Building, and Development Engineering Divisions, which regulate the location and quality of new development in the City, oversee building inspections and plan checking services for all construction in the City, and review permitting for residential, commercial, industrial and multi-family projects.
Before selecting Accela Automation, West Sacramento evaluated six software solutions for land management, and ranked Accela Automation the highest. The solution will extend to iOS, Android, and Windows mobile tablets and smartphones, giving building inspectors and field agents access to documents in real-time and the ability to update project files using Accela Mobile™. It will also show geospatial details of job sites using Esri ArcGIS online and agency ArcGIS integration. The system's user-friendly web portal, Accela Citizen Access™, will give end users an intuitive interface for initiating and tracking service requests.
"West Sacramento illustrates how one city can modernize its entire service delivery infrastructure in one fell swoop with a single flexible and accessible platform," said Maury Blackman, Accela CEO and President. "Once the full Accela Automation applications and add-ons are in place, we're confident the City will see substantial returns on investment, both in terms of quality of service delivery and ease of interaction with citizens, developers, and businesses."
West Sacramento joins its neighbors Sacramento County, the City of Sacramento, and the City of Roseville in selecting Accela Automation to streamline services and increase productivity for government and citizens.
