New Canon LASER CLASS 650i Multifunction Device Offers Improved Speed and Functionality

Compact, Fax-Centric MFP Offers Advanced Device Monitoring in Enterprise Fleet and Managed Print Services Environments

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 5, 2012 — Providing more features and faster output speeds than its predecessors, the new LASER CLASS 650i fax-centric multifunction device from Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, offers small businesses and enterprise workgroups easy faxing, convenience copying, network printing, and color scanning and sending capabilities in a compact, desktop design. With the ability to leverage the same management utilities available for Canon’s imageRUNNER® and imageRUNNER ADVANCE solutions, the LASER CLASS 650i is also an ideal solution for enterprise fleet and managed print services (MPS) environments where advanced device monitoring is required.

“This new LASER CLASS model gives small businesses and enterprise workgroups a full-featured, fax-centric MFP solution that maximizes productivity and usability in a compact size,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “For larger offices that already utilize Canon’s expansive range of enterprise equipment, the LASER CLASS 650i is a perfect complement to the fleet of larger models. It provides a fully integrated and easy-to-use solution for workgroups or satellite offices.”

Beyond offering basic and advanced fax features such as job forwarding, faxing from a PC, reception restriction from unwanted senders, memory lock reception and additional security and administrator-controlled functions, the LASER CLASS 650i also provides the performance of a multi-function device, ultimately enhancing end-user productivity. The new unit provides standard convenience copying and network printing (including Canon’s UFR II LT, PCL and PostScript Emulation) at speeds up to 35 pages-per-minute; document scanning at up to 29 images-per-minute; and the ability to send scanned color documents to one or multiple destinations via e-mail, network folders, or USB memory media. It also features auto-duplexing capabilities to scan and output double-sided documents.

The easy-to-use control panel on the LASER CLASS 650i features a five-line, back-lit LCD, along with a solution key area for one-touch access to functions such as scanning to a PC, secure print release, which requires a password to release a document; and Eco Copy, which helps save paper by automatically printing 2-up, two-sided documents. For easy fax operation, 19 one-touch buttons are provided as well as 181 coded dial locations. Network operations - including printing, sending, and device monitoring - are enabled by the standard wired and wireless LAN (b/g/n) capabilities.

Canon’s patented RAPID Fusing system is employed to deliver less than 11-second warm-up time, less than six-second first print out time, and low energy consumption that contributes to the model’s compliance with ENERGY STAR® program requirements. The standard paper capacity for the LASER CLASS 650i is 250 sheets from the standard cassette plus 50 sheets from the stack bypass. For longer continuous operation, the paper capacity can be expanded to 800 sheets with the purchase of the optional 500-sheet paper feeder.

The LASER CLASS 650i is available through Canon authorized dealers and Canon Business Solutions at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $1,095. The optional 500-sheet Paper Feeder FP-44 has an MSRP of $299.
