YKK AP Wins 2012 Architectural Products Product Innovation Award

YUW 750 XT advanced façade system selected for its thermal performance, design flexibility, and for joint collaboration in design

AUSTELL, Ga. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — November 8, 2012YKK AP America, the leader in manufacturing high quality architectural products, today announced it took home top honors in the 2012 Architectural Products Product Innovation Awards (PIAs). Awarded for innovation and outstanding leadership, YKK AP’s YUW 750 XT was selected as a winner in the building envelope category for its energy efficient design and for the collaborative manner in which it was developed and brought to market.

The PIAs aim to impartially review products and present only the most innovative to the industry. Judged by a group of 50 independent industry professionals, products were assigned to architects, interior designers, lighting designers and veteran A/E/C writers based on their expertise and interest for consideration.

Developed in full collaboration with Erie Architectural Products, YKK AP’s fabricated wall systems partner, YUW 750 XT offers unparalleled design flexibility. The advanced façade system can be seamlessly configured for multi-span curtain wall applications, for single-span ribbon walls, and for combination elevations. Further enhancing design flexibility, the system can be specified for a fully captured appearance with visible exterior framing elements, in four-side SSG for an all glass exterior appearance, or in combinations of both. The innovation of YUW 750XT is now contributing to prestigious project such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Hall at Cornell University and 7550 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, Maryland.

“With all the hard work and long hours that go into developing our enerGfacade family of products, we are proud to be selected as a winner of this prestigious award,” said Oliver Stepe of YKK AP America. “We are constantly striving to offer relevant building envelope solutions and this recognition further reinforces the value of collaboration with supply chain partners. We were up against some very tough competition and taking top honor like this is a true testament to the effort of our internal teams and Erie Architectural Products.”

“Building on the success of last year’s inaugural program, our second edition of the awards proves commercial building manufacturers are committed to delivering more sustainable products, as well as products that deliver better performance, life and affordability,” said Jim Crockett, editorial director at Architectural Products magazine.
