(Video PR) Impressive solutions for manufacturers from ROBOTMASTER and its partners

November 19, 2012 - How do you stand out from the crowd of over 1900 exhibitors at the giant International Manufacturing Technology Show IMTS 2012 that was held in Chicago in September?  - by demonstrating shop floor-ready technology advances that can make manufacturing operations more efficient and flexible.  That’s why impressed crowds converged on a demonstration in the Metal Forming and Fabricating/Laser Pavilion to see what happens when you harness the power of Robotmaster off-line robot programming and the CAD/CAM tools of Mastercam to the latest KUKA robots to solve manufacturing problems.

Eyes were riveted on the new KUKA KR210 QUANTEC robot milling a detailed Agilus robot model in aluminium, demonstrating the ability to use a 6 axis robot in a precise machining application. A significant part of that magic was the KUKA.CNC G-code programming software, developed by ROBOTMASTER, to enable KUKA robots to be programmed and operated directly through machine language G code and to process even the most complex programs from CAD/CAM systems.  “The benefit of this program is that the complete robot program is done in a CNC environment.  So, for those customers used to programming in CNC for their machine tools, this is the exact same language that is running on this robot” said Kuka vice-president James Cooper.

“What we’re seeing today,” said Chahe Bakmazjian, President of Jabez Technologies, the company behind Robotmaster, “are advances in robot hardware and programming software coming together to bring the power, efficiency and flexibility of robots to the machine shop.  Robots, such as Kuka’s Quantec, have reduced their space requirements while delivering increased reach and payload, and have a stiffer mechanical system with improved motion characteristics, shorter cycle times and increased path accuracy to ensure top performance in machining operations.  For our part, we’ve developed the powerful programming and optimizing tools that extend the CAD/CAM methodologies traditionally applied to CNC to automatically generate error-free robot programs, with speed and efficiency.”

Robotmaster recognises that the end-user needs a complete, integrated solution that solves his day-to-day problems effectively.  The vision behind the product has always been to enable the transition from traditional to robot machining equipment without the user being required to abandon the methodologies or lose the advantages of his CAD/CAM tools.  Jabez Technologies has brought the expertise of its 15+ years experience in CAD/CAM and robot programming to develop ROBOTMASTER and to collaborate closely with robot manufacturers and integrators to deliver the total solution to the shop floor.  The results on view at several kiosks at IMTS demonstrated the benefits that come from Robotmaster’s partnerships with companies such as Kuka as well as their systems integrators Genesis Systems and Flow International  to develop effective solutions to end-users’ problems.

About Robotmaster

Robotmaster seamlessly integrates robot programming, simulation and program generation inside Mastercam’s industry proven CAD/CAM platform. Common robot programming challenges typically require intricate user intervention or costly manual editing for producing error free programs.  Robotmaster V6 provides innovative new tools to effortlessly optimize robot programs producing error-free robot paths avoiding singularity zones and collisions, working around joint and reach limitations and optimizing tool orientations along the entire trajectory.  Robotmaster is ideally suited to program robots for such tasks as trimming, 3D machining, de-burring, polishing, welding, dispensing, grinding and painting, and supports most industrial robot models.
