Valley Proteins Rolls Out Cadec's PowerVue Fleet Management Solution to Its 450-Vehicle Fleet

MANCHESTER, NH -- (Marketwire) -- Dec 03, 2012 -- Cadec Global, which provides enterprise-class fleet management solutions, announced today that Valley Proteins, a leader in the recovery, rendering and recycling of animal by-products, has implemented Cadec's PowerVue solution across its 450-vehicle fleet to give fleet managers real-time, actionable information on fleet and driver performance as well as pickup and delivery details.

PowerVue, the most modern and flexible SaaS-based fleet management solution, provides all the best-in-class, advanced fleet management features in a single, easy-to-use, secure and reliable SaaS platform with innovative in-cab hardware designed specifically for the enterprise-class customer.

Valley Proteins needed a fleet management solution that could be configured to its specific needs, so drivers would be presented with a workflow tailored to each type of pickup or delivery. Picking up used restaurant cooking oils for recycling, for instance, requires collecting different data than does delivering pet feed or biofuel. Its previous fleet management system could only prompt drivers with a loop of the same questions for every route dispatched, forcing drivers to navigate through unnecessary questions at each pickup and delivery, wasting valuable time.

According to Paul Battista, Project Manager at Valley Proteins, the company chose to replace its previous system with PowerVue for several reasons; chiefly, its customizable workflow, the ability to deliver data in real time rather than in batches, and the ease with which it could be integrated with third-party solutions such as RoadNet Technologies for dispatch and CoPilot Truck from ALK Technologies for turn by turn navigation.

"Using PowerVue and the Cadec on-board computer as our in-cab hub opens up so many possibilities for us in terms of extending our supply chain management efforts right into our trucks," said Battista. "PowerVue is beautifully architected for companies like Valley Proteins that want to link together several different tools to create a tailored transportation management solution. We're now able to plan and optimize routes based on orders from our planning system, and have those routes be displayed as maps with turn-by-turn directions to the driver. PowerVue then tracks the driver's progress, sending back real-time data including planned-versus-actual results for all pickup and delivery activities. We have never had that kind of insight into our fleet."

PowerVue is also helping Valley Proteins measure both driver and fleet behavior, such as idling and sudden decelerations, to improve safety and save fuel through its Performance Management Scorecards. Valley Proteins is planning to implement Cadec's eDVIR solution, which enables drivers to complete paperless inspection reports that are compliant with FMCSA regulations; and SpeedTracker, which provides speed-by-road segment data to track driver behavior against established speed limits.

"We continue to hear from so many companies that standard out-of-the-box fleet management tools don't fit the way they do business," said Pete Allen, CEO of Cadec. "PowerVue's configurable workflow directly addresses that need. We've really enjoyed working with the Valley Proteins team -- they truly share our vision of how real-time data and proactive fleet management can improve safety, efficiency and the bottom line."
