Arrow Electronics Expands Development Kit Portfolio with New SoCKIT Evaluation Kit Featuring Altera’s ARM-Based SoCs

-- Global Workshop Series to provide tools and training kicks off May 14 --

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — April 4, 2013 — Arrow Electronics (NYSE: ARW) today announced the latest addition to its portfolio of development tools with the Arrow SoCKIT evaluation kit, featuring an Altera Cyclone® V SoC. Cyclone V SoCs integrate a dual-core ARM® Cortex™-A9 MPCore™ processor within the fabric of a 28 nm FPGA. Engineers using Altera SoCs can reduce power consumption, board space and costs in their embedded system while increasing overall system performance. Arrow is demonstrating the latest design techniques and tools in SoC design through a series of global workshops based on its new Altera SoC evaluation kit.

Altera SoCs allow embedded system developers to differentiate their end product with customized hardware and software, and extend the product lifecycle through hardware and software updates in the field. It is complete with user’s manual/start-up guide, USB and power cables.

“Arrow and Altera have successfully collaborated on development kits that enhance performance and simplify the design process,” said Greg Provenzano, vice president of global engineering for Arrow Electronics. “The SoCKIT evaluation kit is the latest addition to our growing portfolio of development tools, designed to help engineers evaluate Altera’s SoC solutions and help them see how simple designing with these devices can be.”

“Altera SoCs offer embedded developers a superior architecture that delivers greater system performance, excellent device protection, more design flexibility, supported by highly optimized, industry-standard development tools,” said Todd Koelling, senior manager, SoC product marketing at Altera. “Embedded developers using the Arrow SoCKIT will be able to quickly evaluate and experience firsthand the improvements an Altera SoC solution will bring to their system.”

Arrow is launching a global workshop series beginning May 14, 2013 to provide the latest design techniques and tools in SoC FPGA design, and training for the new Altera Embedded Design Suite featuring the ARM DS-5 edition toolkit. Registration includes an Arrow SoCKIT. For more information and to register visit: www.arrow.com/sockit.
