OPEN MIND Presents hyperMILL® at Canadian Machine-Tool Dealer Joint Open Houses

April 18, 2013 - OPEN MIND Technologies USA, Inc. and Canadian dealer CAM Focus Consultants will be presenting hyperMILL CAM Software at the annual Canadian Machine Tool Dealer Joint Open House on April 24+25, located in the Toronto suburbs.  On these days, DMG Canada, Elliott Machinery, EMEC, Ferro Technique, and SST will present the latest machine tools to the regional customer base.

hyperMILL will be demonstrated in person at DMG Canada and Elliott Machinery.  Cutting demonstrations will be on DMU 85 monoBlock, DMU 60 eVo Linear, and Agie Charmilles Mikron 400U Prod Mod machines.  The demonstrations utilize various multi-axis machining techniques, combining 3-axis, 3+2 positional machining, 4+1 machining with one locked rotary and one active rotary axis, and 5-axis simultaneous milling.  Techniques such as shape-offset milling, 5-axis drilling and hyperMILL’s collision detection are prominently used.  While interesting to the eye, appropriate use of multi-axis milling techniques may be better than excessive use of 5-axis techniques.

5-Axis techniques are appropriate for complex geometry, to avoid collision situations, to utilize shorter cutters since the cutter holder can be tilted away from the workpiece, and in some cases to reach more regions of a part that are possible with positional machining.  Multi-axis machining carries all of these benefits, but also stiffens the machining process by having fewer moving components, and in some cases even applying brakes to rotary axes.  With a stiffer machine system, feedrates can often be increased and cutter life may increase.  hyperMILL offers all multi-axis techniques, and a logical progression of when and how to utilize each level of multi-axis machining.

CAM Focus has been representing OPEN MIND for nearly 5 years and employee three application engineers that average over 10 years of hyperMILL experience.

Come meet OPEN MIND and CAM Focus personnel to discuss your machining requirements.
