IDT’s LVDS / LVPECL MEMS Oscillators with Sub-picosecond Jitter Are Ideal for High-performance Communications, Consumer, Cloud, and Industrial Applications
SAN JOSE, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — May 7, 2013 — Integrated Device Technology, Inc. ( IDT®) (NASDAQ: IDTI), the Analog and Digital Company™ delivering essential mixed-signal semiconductor solutions, today announced that its 4M differential MEMS oscillators are now available through Fox Electronics, an IDT company and leading global supplier of frequency control solutions. The LVDS / LVPECL oscillators feature less than one picosecond of jitter and can be rapidly configured to the desired output frequency without the need for tuning. The high-performance and high-reliability specifications of IDT’s 4M MEMS oscillators are ideal for communications, consumer, cloud, and industrial applications.
The MEMS oscillators utilize IDT’s patented piezoelectric MEMS (pMEMS™) resonator technology, which combines the strong electromechanical coupling of a piezoelectric material with the stability and low damping of single-crystal silicon to create a passive frequency source of unparalleled performance and reliability. With no zero-time failures, no activity dips, jitter resistance to EMI, and excellent shock and vibration resistance, the new 4M MEMS oscillators offer 40 times better reliability and complement Fox’s XpressO® configurable crystal oscillators as a resilient oscillator option.
“We’re pleased to add IDT’s robust 4M-series MEMS oscillators to our extensive offering of frequency control products,” said E.L. Fox, president of Fox Electronics. “At Fox, we strive to provide our customers with the industry’s most advanced technologies and features. IDT’s MEMS oscillators fulfill a customer need by offering reliability advantages over traditional quartz-based oscillators without compromising performance.”
The 4M-series devices operate with ±50 ppm frequency accuracy over the wide industrial temperature range of -40°C to 85°C, and support LVDS and LVPECL differential signaling standards at frequencies of up to 625 MHz. They are available in 7.0 x 5.0 mm (7050) standard plastic packages, and are pin-to-pin compatible with traditional crystal oscillators, making them an ideal upgrade solution.
The 4M devices are offered in North America by Fox Electronics and IDT’s direct purchase service, IDT Direct™. Customers worldwide are served by IDT’s extensive distribution network, including Avnet, EBV, Mouser, and Digi-Key. Also sampling, are other members of IDT’s MEMS oscillator portfolio including the 4E and 4H series. The 4E series features multiple outputs with four selectable frequencies, eliminating the need for external crystals and allowing for the consolidation of multiple devices to reduce the bill-of-materials and consolidate inventory. In addition, the recently announced 4H series features a small 3.2 x 2.5 mm (3225) package and sub-300 femtosecond phase jitter to meet the stringent performance requirements of 10 gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) and other high-performance applications.
