The new PVP Programmer add-in to the Blackfin development tool, CrossCore® Embedded Studio, enables a new, streamlined configuration of the PVP found in ADSP-BF60x parts. The new FinBoard Lens Adapter eases machine vision surveillance application development by enabling a user to attach a standard C-mount lens commonly found in machine vision surveillance cameras.

New tutorials on  www.finboard.org include two introductory videos: “Introducing FinBoard,” and “Introducing the ADSP-BF609 Blackfin Processor.” Designers can also find a three-part FinBoard On-Ramp Technical Session™ that includes “Introduction to Pixel Processing,” “BDTI Finding Objects Using Canny Edge Detection, an Algorithm Overview,” and “BDTI Finding Objects in Live Video Using the Blackfin BF609 Canny Edge Detection.”

“The Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit offers design teams virtually everything they need to get a visual analytics application up and running, with virtually no cost barrier,” said Jim Beneke vice president, global technical marketing, Avnet Electronics Marketing. “With its latest updates and tutorial videos, this development kit is poised to enable applications across multiple markets.

Customers have been very happy with the smooth, out-of-box experience of the Embedded Vision Starter Kit, including set up, loading of development tools and how quickly the interactive dice counting demo example runs. Being able to instantly see the results of the dual-core Blackfin BF60x processor running intensive, real-time embedded vision algorithms has really impressed the developers working with the kit,” said Analog Devices, Inc. Director of Product Marketing Colin Duggan.

The Analog Devices Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit includes a single board featuring all the blocks necessary to prototype an embedded vision application, including the Analog Devices BF609 dual core processor, a high-definition CMOS color sensor with replaceable lens for video input, HDMI / DVI port for output, 10/100 Ethernet and LED target illumination. The kit also includes a USB-based In-Circuit Emulator providing an easy, portable, non-intrusive, debugging solution for the Kit.

Two 6-month unrestricted versions of CrossCore® Embedded Studio are included with tutorials to demonstrate ease of use of the tools and the speed at which designers can develop applications with Blackfin BF609 Embedded Vision Starter Kit. In addition, the kit includes drivers, example software, and a unique machine vision dice counting software reference design, developed by BDTI, providing commented source code utilizing the Blackfin core and the Pipelined Video Processor.
