THine Licenses Mentor Graphics Its V-by-One® HS Technology

TOKYO — (BUSINESS WIRE) — August 22, 2013 — THine Electronics, Inc. (JASDAQ:6769), the global leader in high-speed serial interface and provider of mixed-signal LSI, today announced that Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT), the world leader in electronic hardware and software design solutions has licensed THine’s V-by-One® HS technology.

V-by-One® HS technology has been developed by THine to make internal interface smarter and less expensive for various markets such as flat panel displays, document processing systems, security systems, robotics, and automotive infotainments. Especially, V-by-One® HS has been widely accepted as the de facto standard in flat panel display markets.

Mentor Graphics accelerates its customers’ time-to-market in developing their systems-on-chip (SoCs) by embedding V-by-One® HS, licensed from THine, in their latest-generation verification solutions. This signals the increased use of V-by-One® HS technology in companies developing LSIs worldwide.

“Mentor Graphics is delighted to announce our partnership with THine Electronics to license their leading technology for V-by-One® HS,” said Eric Selosse, vice president and general manager, Mentor Graphics Emulation Division. “The partnership has allowed us to deliver high-performance, emulation-ready verification IPs for use with our best-in-class Veloce® emulator for this important protocol, which are deployed at world-leading electronics companies. With this new product and partnership, Mentor Graphics strengthens its position as the premier vendor for hardware and software emulation solutions in a variety of multimedia market segments, including flat panel TV displays.”

THine Electronics President and CEO, Kazutaka Nogami noted, “It is an honorable partnership that THine licensed its V-by-One® HS to Mentor Graphics, one of the world best partners. While THine has made more than 280 contracts related to V-by-One® HS, THine plans to penetrate V-by-One® HS more by licensing the technical specification to potential users, including Mentor Graphics customers. THine delivers value of high-speed interfaces with less costs to many excellent customers.”

Key benefits of V-by-One® HS

- High transmission quality with high performance equalizer in noisy conditions
- High data transmission quality solving cable skew problems with high speed Seriarizer/Deserializer using clock data recovery (CDR) technology
- Lower electro-magnetic interference (EMI) with clock embedded transmission, no reference clock at receiver
- Reduction of total cost and board space by optimizing cables and connectors
- Seamless transition to V-by-One® HS minimizing change of device input/output and peripheral design
- Lower energy consumption with variable transmission speed: 600 Mbps to 4.0 Gbps
