Our Japanese distributor, A&A Co., Ltd., recently held its fifth Vectorworks Education Symposium, a daylong event centered on “Design Innovation” and attended by more than 150 educators, students, and Vectorworks users.

During the event, one of Japan’s leading young architects, Makoto Tanijiri, shared his characteristic way of thinking. He revealed that he views design not as being definitely fixed but as something that is flexibly transformable. He also told stories about some of his failures and shared tips for successful design.

After that, Eiichi Kawase, vice president at A&A Co., reported on OASIS’ student support program, noting that its number of school members has increased annually. He then described some newly available teaching tools, such as 3D printers.

Previous OASIS scholarship winners presented their research during the afternoon session, followed by an announcement of this year’s scholarship recipients.

Beyond the aforementioned sessions, the symposium also featured presentations on “Urban Landscape Simulation Using Renderworks and 3D Printers” by Hirofumi Nakamura, associate professor at Miyakonojo National College of Technology; “Professional Education and BIM” by Daisei Yamano, vice principal of Nihon Kogakuin College Hachioji Campus; “Active Learning with the Use of ICT at Local Universities” by Shoichi Kondo, associate professor at Nippon Bunri University; and “Architectural Education Utilizing BIM for Clients” by Yoji Kawamura, professor at Tokyo City University.

A&A Co. was thrilled with its successful day of education and plans to host more symposiums in support of Vectorworks software in the future.
