Envitia Led Team Awarded DSTL Contract

September 25, 2013 -- GEOCORE, led by Envitia, including Helyx SIS Ltd, University of Nottingham, University College London (UCL) and QinetiQ has been awarded a new contract which will follow and build on the existing two year contract by the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) for the Advanced Geospatial information and Intelligence Services (AGIS) research programme. GEOCORE will build on its success to date delivering research that underpins and improves GEOINF/GEOINT capability and policy in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Other Government Departments (OGDs).

The University of Nottingham

Nottingham’s research contribution will be led from the new Nottingham Geospatial Institute (NGI) which was formed from the merger of the Centre for Geospatial Science (CGS) and the Institute of Engineering Surveying and Space Geodesy in 2011. Prof. Mike Jackson will be the academic PI for GEOCORE and the AGIS contract which will involve researchers from several parts of the University.

University College London
UCL has multiple research groups focusing on different aspects of geospatial science and engineering. The Satellite Geodesy and Navigation Group (SGNG) conducts research into improved accuracy and robustness to positioning applications. The Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) is an initiative to develop emerging computer technologies in several disciplines which deal with geography, space, location, and the built environment.

Dstl
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) maximises the impact of science and technology (S&T) for the defence and security of the UK, supplying sensitive and specialist S&T services for the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and wider government.
