Actions Semiconductor Launches High Performance OWL Series Chipset

ZHUHAI, China, Sept. 25, 2013 — (PRNewswire) —  Actions Semiconductor Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: ACTS), one of China's leading fabless semiconductor companies that provides comprehensive portable multimedia and mobile internet system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions for portable consumer electronics, today announced the introduction of its new ATM7039 chipset. 

Actions' ATM7039 chipset is a high performance quad-core tablet solution which supports the AndroidTM 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system and brings new advanced multimedia features to higher end tablets. ATM7039 features the quad-core ARM® CortexTM A9 CPU (with single CPU running up to 1.6 Ghz), high performance, world-class PowerVR GPU core from Imagination Technologies, 2K by 4K super high resolution decoding including support of the newest international standard--high definition HVEC/H.265  video decoding and a dual channel 64 bit DRAM interface enabling faster data transfers.  Also, the Actions innovative LPD Gen. III architecture in ATM7039 features an intelligent brightness control that reduces power consumption and lessens eye strain.
