Agency Speakers to Discuss Exporting Opportunities at Geospatial & Engineering International Conference

October 09, 2013 -- The World Bank, U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and U.S. Agency for International Development will be among the agencies and institutions that will participate in a session at the Geospatial and Engineering International Conference to be held November 13-14 at the Westin Hotel in Alexandria, VA.

Organizations that coordinate projects utilizing engineering and geospatial services outside the continental United States will provide information on entering and expanding business in the global market.

Featured speakers include Leila Aridi Afas, U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA); Carrie Stokes, US Agency for International Development (USAID); and E. Scott Bozek, The World Bank .

Ms. Afas is Director of Export Promotion at USTDA where she works to support American job growth through the export of U.S. goods and services to emerging markets. She will discuss the opportunities for exporting engineering and geospatial services that support USTDA's objectives, including the development of modern infrastructure.

In 2011, USAID established the GeoCenter to improve the agency's ability to use geospatial information technology for spatial analysis, strategic planning, monitoring and evalutating projects and communications results. Ms. Stokes, Geographer & Director of the GeoCenter, will discuss applications of geospatial data and analysis for international development.

Mr. Bozek, Advisor and Director of Business Liaison, will provide an overview of The World Bank's Enterprise Outreach Service (EOS) team and mission to strengthen the World Bank Group's relationship with the private sector in order to increase the awareness and participation of companies in development. Mr. Bozek will discuss projects and contracting for geospatial and engineering services.

The presentations will focus on market opportunities available to U.S.-based firms to export their services and capabilities through contracts with Federal agencies and U.S-supported institutions.

"Working with familiar agencies that contract for work can ease the burden on firms entering the global market," said Brian Raber, Program Chair (Merrick & Company). "This strong panel of agency representatives will provide insight into opportunities for geospatial and engineering firms to partner with government agencies and understand how projects are financed and procured for exporting U.S. services to complete the agencies missions."

Engineering and geospatial professionals responsible for and interested in contracting opportunities outside the boarders should attend this conference.

Early rate for conference registration is available now. The hotel reservation deadline is October 22.
