TraceParts Partners with RS Components to Offer 100 Million Free 3D Models to DesignSpark Mechanical User Community

Saint Romain, France – Oct. 15 2013 – TraceParts, a world-leading digital engineering 3D content company, further expands its exclusive 3D content partnership with RS Components initiated in 2010 to bring more than 100 million free CAD models seamlessly integrated to DesignSpark Mechanical software.

DesignSpark Mechanical is a new 3D solid modeling and assembly software tool offered by RS Components and Allied Electronics to all - totally free of charge. It brings major benefits to design engineers around the world and is available in multiple languages, overcoming the two major barriers to entry faced by potential users who do not currently have access to a 3D design solution, but who could benefit enormously from the use of 3D modeling to quickly develop sophisticated concepts and products.

These impediments are the prohibitive costs and the considerable investment in learning time associated with traditional 3D CAD tools. Not only is DesignSpark Mechanical free, its simplicity of use means that engineers and others involved in product development can become fully conversant with the software within minutes, rather than the weeks or months required to become skilled with traditional 3D CAD tools.

TraceParts and RS Components have been working closely together since 2010 to bring huge productivity savings to millions of design engineers

RS Components has always been a very inspiring customer for TraceParts,” explained Gabriel Guigue, TraceParts Managing Director. We’re very much impressed by their maturity and expertise level when it comes to 3D Marketing. They’ve understood better and faster than anyone the essential need for 3D in their customers’ product design cycle. DesignSpark Mechanical helps their customers to be more successful and is clearly benefitting RS. It is a great honor for TraceParts to be their exclusive CAD content partner to 3D-empower their product e-catalog, their DesignSpark social network and now their all new DesignSpark Mechanical software.”

TraceParts and RS Components have been working closely together since 2010 to bring huge productivity savings to millions of design engineers who do not have to model purchased parts anymore. Available in over 30 different CAD and imaging file formats and 25 languages, TraceParts technology is seamlessly fueling a Publishing Network of automation & engineering media and software partners, totaling over 8 million engineers and technicians worldwide.

RS and Allied have collaborated with world-leading 3D content company TraceParts to provide access to millions of models from the extensive TracePartsOnline.net CAD portal in DesignSpark Mechanical native format. said Glenn Jarrett, Global Head of Product Marketing at RS Components. Downloading a 3D model instead of re-modeling it is an additional value-added benefit we deliver to our users. And DesignSpark Mechanical can also be used as a complementary 3D tool in the product development process for the creation of early concept designs, for instance, alongside 3D CAD tools that are already in use today. The tool can remove bottlenecks in the early design process by allowing changes and additions in seconds, rather than having to wait for the CAD department using the traditional 3D tools to rework the design.

DesignSpark Mechanical is available for free download from www.designspark.com/mechanical.
