Intergraph® Releases CAESAR II® Software for Pipe Stress Analysis to Comply with Stringent ASME NQA-1 Standard for Nuclear Industry

CAESAR II offers commercial and nuclear projects a single comprehensive solutionfor pipe design and stress analysis

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Nov. 14, 2013 — (PRNewswire) —  Intergraph® has released CAESAR II® Nuclear, a new version of the world's most trusted software for pipe stress analysis that has been through a Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) process. The software now complies with American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) NQA-1 2008/09 quality assurance (QA) standards required for nuclear facility design as endorsed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for use in reactors, material, waste and security.

The ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance (QA) standard is recognized worldwide as a rigorous safety standard for nuclear applications, focused on preventing defects before release. The new software product launched, CAESAR II Nuclear boasts additional features over CAESAR II software allowing for its direct adoption in nuclear sector for new facilities. These features include:

  • Commercially dedicated using the new ASME NQA-1-2012 Subpart 3.2-214 section.  This assures the product has passed critical acceptance tests, analyses and inspections, as well as performance requirements, characteristics, and vendor history.
  • Support for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Code of Federal Regulations to use or operate nuclear facilities through compliance with NRC 10 CFR Part 50 App. B (Quality Assurance Criteria for Nuclear Power Plants and Fuel Reprocessing Plants) and 10 CFR Part 21 (Reporting of Defects and Noncompliance).
  • Inclusion of a design verification feature that allows users to verify piping input in a text format outside of the user interface.
  • Incorporation of verification software, CAESAR II QA Test, for comparing benchmark output with the output generated for an installation.
  • For U.S. customers, bundling of a Quality Assurance and Reporting notification service.
  • Option to purchase the CGD verification guide with detailed verifications.
  • Enhanced critical-level technical support is included for nuclear licensees of CAESAR II Nuclear.

The combination of CGD verification, adherence to NQA-1 standards, and use of automated numerical, usability and workflow tests, ensures that users of both CAESAR II and CAESAR II Nuclear share in the benefits of improved quality. This adds to the already high level of confidence users have in the CAESAR II line of products.

Gerhard Sallinger, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine president, said, "The release of CAESAR II Nuclear provides new opportunities for the growing global nuclear power market to benefit from the proven technological superiority of the world's most trusted pipe stress analysis solution. With this release, our SmartPlant® Enterprise customers around the world can leverage the opportunities CAESAR II Nuclear provides for increased collaboration, greater efficiencies and overall faster completion of nuclear capital projects."

"Users around the world have trusted CAESAR II for decades, and they can now benefit from the savings in deployment and training that comes from using a single platform for their piping stress analysis needs for both traditional and nuclear facilities," said Rick Allen, president, Intergraph CADWorx® & Analysis Solutions. "With the powerful bi-directional links between CAESAR II Nuclear and SmartPlant Enterprise, users can work within an environment that helps reduce design errors and the increase the efficiency of producing the quality deliverables needed in this demanding design and engineering sector."
