Canon U.S.A. Unveils Océ VarioPrint 6000+ Series of High-Speed, High-Volume Digital Production Printers

Canon’s Latest Monochrome Production Printers Designed to Help Print Providers Work More Efficiently and Effectively

MELVILLE, N.Y. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — December 5, 2013 — Canon U.S.A. Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the Océ VarioPrint 6000+ series of high-speed, high-capacity digital printers that provide high volume print service providers the ability to work more efficiently and extend the variety of output applications they make available to their customers, which can help increase their product offerings and therefore help improve bottom-line profitability.

The VP6000+ series is comprised of three model families: Ultra+ for commercial printers and corporate in-plant environments; TP+ for transactional and direct mail printing applications; and MICR+ for highly sensitive, negotiable financial documents and other security related applications. Each speed model in the new Océ VarioPrint 6000 + series lineup – comprised of the VarioPrint 6320+, 6250+, 6200+ and 6160+ – incorporates a variety of features to help maximize continuous operation by increasing efficiencies in print production.

“Among declining demand for high-speed cut sheet monochrome toner printing the Océ VarioPrint 6000-series stands out for bucking the trend on the basis of sheer productivity,” said Marco Boer, vice-president of market analysis, IT Strategies, Inc. “This new generation is even more flexible than before and will no doubt continue to consolidate print volume in the market place."

The Océ VarioPrint 6000+ series, featuring Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology, prints both sides of a sheet in a single pass, enabling duplex printing of letter size documents at speeds of up to 306 pages-per-minute in the top speed model. Featuring a new controller platform, Windows 7 based controller software and an updated paper input module, the Océ VarioPrint 6000+ series is among the most productive printers in its class, effectively responding to short-run, fast-turnaround monochrome printing needs through improved RIP processing speeds over previous models.

“The introduction of the Océ VarioPrint 6000+ series solidifies Canon’s commitment to creating monochrome production printers of unsurpassed quality,” said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. “This latest lineup will open the door for our customers to explore and compete in new markets while establishing efficient workflows for a highly-effective and streamlined approach to production printing.”

Increased Productivity

Equipped with Océ Gemini Instant Duplex Technology, the VarioPrint 6000+ passes sheets through the engine only once, resulting in reliable and productive high speed production. It provides unsurpassed productivity of up to 10 million images per month. This high volume of output is supported by a dual paper tray option that provides a maximum input capacity of 24,000 sheets for longer unattended printing. To support even higher volumes, an additional roll feed system is available to expand input capacity to 75,000 sheets.

Faster Turnaround Times

The flagship Océ VarioPrint 6320+ is already the world’s most productive digital duplex printer, and a new, more powerful RIP processor enables the printer to process more complex jobs – up to 30 percent faster than the previous RIP processor. The series features numerous multi-tasking functions that allow it to create even more work within shorter production windows, including prep-while-warm-up, load-while-print, unload-while-print and rip-while-print. New and improved workflow automation features create an even greater increase in productivity.

Improved Software Capabilities

The Océ VarioPrint 6000 Ultra+ series allows users to display production schedules for up to eight hours on the user interface, making it easy to change the order and settings of print jobs in accordance with work progress and delivery deadlines. The updated Windows 7 based controller and improved PRISMASync graphical user interface enhance Canon’s unified workflow solutions across product lines. The new series also supports the most advanced Adobe PostScript workflows and provides the ability to switch instantly between on-demand and transaction printing, allowing print providers to act as a one-stop resource for a wider variety of production jobs.

Enhanced Black-and-White Production

By opting to continue innovating on an existing product line Canon was able to focus on enhancing important aspects of workflow and improving ease of use through a unified product offering that helps deliver critical savings to print providers. This black-and-white printer is ideal for burgeoning industries – such as on-demand, digital book printing – due to its registration accuracy, outstanding print quality, and flexible mixed-media feeding. With its productivity advantage on over-sized media, it is up to 60 percent more productive than current competing digital sheetfed systems.

Focus on Sustainability

Canon continuously innovates with environmental sustainability at the forefront. The Océ VarioPrint 6000 + series boasts an economical use of paper, toner and energy. The printer also emits virtually no ozone.

The new Océ VarioPrint 6000 + series is expected to be available through Canon authorized dealers starting in December. For more information and optional accessories please visit www.usa.canon.com.
