Analog Devices launches Anveshan 2014 – a student fellowship program to inspire and innovate

Fellowship to mentor and encourage innovation in system design;

India: March 11, 2014: Analog Devices, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, today announced the commencement of its bi-annual student design fellowship - Anveshan 2014. In its third edition, the design contest is aimed at building system level engineering expertise among Indian engineering student community and providing them an opportunity to showcase their innovation, product design and problem solving abilities.

Anveshan 2014 is designed to mentor budding engineers to enhance their system design skills by actually developing prototype products under the guidance and mentorship of industry experts. The selected projects would be run on similar lines as in the industry for a period of 9 months, with regular architecture reviews, component selection reviews, interim deadlines and finally a complete presentation and demonstration of the prototype. Students would tackle problem areas in various industry segments such as infotainment, home security, surveillance, machine vision, automotive systems, navigation, robotics, green energy & harvesting solutions, Internet of Things, consumer gadgets, healthcare and more.

As part of the fellowship, the student teams will get to work with some of Analog Devices’ signature products. Analog Devices India will fund the project development and provide support in the form of evaluation kits, emulators, components and software development tools to shortlisted teams. Additionally, highly experienced mentors will be at hand to provide guidance and expert insights at various stages throughout the project, including support from Analog Devices’ award winning online technical support community ‘ Engineers Zone.’Three of the best projects will also win attractive cash awards.

Speaking about the program, Somshubhro (Som) Pal Choudhury, Managing Director, Analog Devices India said “It gives us immense pleasure to announce the commencement of our third Anveshan program. This fellowship has been engineered to serve as a platform to help connect the students with the experienced industry hands and give them a practical exposure. We hope the mentorship and guidance will help the students think beyond the box and come out with path breaking innovations while enhancing their system design knowhow.”

The winning teams from Anveshan 2012 developed a number of innovative concepts such as a low cost portable health monitor, brain controlled bionic ear and a sensor based solution to help the blind.

Anveshan augments Analog Devices Inc.’s University Program for engineering students in India. The Analog Discovery Kit is an affordable, portable and personal lab for the engineering students that enable them to experiment, build and test a wide range of analog and digital circuits outside their university labs, using their own PC. Eliminating the time, space and cost limitations of traditional university lab settings allows students more flexibility to experiment with real circuits through direct hands-on experience.
