2014 Global Product Data Interoperability Summit Welcomes New Partner and Expands Technology Tracks

As Summit continues to grow, the Boeing, Northrup Grumman, Parker Aerospace and Elysium event reinforces message of maintaining data quality through the value stream

Presentation abstracts due by June 2

SOUTHFIELD, MI, April 15, 2014—The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA], Northrop Grumman Corporation [NYSE: NOC], Parker Aerospace, and Elysium Inc. will hold the sixth annual joint Global Product Data Interoperability Summit (GPDIS), on September 8-11, at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix, AZ. The theme of this year’s Summit is “Preserving Product Data Quality through the Value Stream.”

The Summit, which functions as a communications hub for industry principals to foster knowledge through the exchange of ideas, solutions, and methods, is introducing a new sponsoring partner and two additional technology tracks this year.  Presentation abstracts are due by June 2.

Parker Aerospace, an operating group of Parker-Hannifin Corporation [NYSE: PH] and global leader in the research, design, manufacture and service of flight control, hydraulic, fuel, inerting, fluid conveyance, thermal management and engine systems and components, has joined the GPDIS committee as a sponsor.

“Parker Aerospace’s participation will add valuable industry expertise and perspective to GPDIS,” says Ken Tashiro, vice president of Elysium and GPDIS organizer. “Going into the Summit’s sixth year, it remains critical to align industry standards in order to combat the data interoperability challenges that confront OEMs and suppliers everywhere.”

“I find this setting to be unique and ideal to generate both near-term tactical and long-range strategic solutions to common industry issues through the one-stop shop community of partners, suppliers and technology leaders,” says Nate Nalven, director of Engineering Applications at Northrop Grumman. “GPDIS member organizations have developed strategic directions and affordable solutions that not only benefit themselves, but also provide foundations and relationships for the greater good of industry overall.”

While Data Exchange, PLM, SOA, and M&QS have been the focus of previous Summits, new University and Systems Engineering tracks are being introduced for 2014. The University track will showcase innovative student work in the area of data interoperability. The Systems Engineering track will explore how common data standards can improve the design and management of complex engineering projects over their lifecycles.

“We are reminded that technology continues to march on and competition is ever present,” says GPDIS Chairman Terrence McGowan of Boeing. “Planning for common enterprise architecture is essential for OEMs to continue to stay competitive and build value. Finding the solutions in a fast-paced technology world can mean the difference between being prepared for opportunities as they arise, and struggling to keep up with ongoing customer needs.”

Visit the 2014 GPDIS website ( http://www.gpdisonline.com) for information regarding registration, hotel accommodations, presenters and sponsors. Registration is now open through August 15. Presentation abstracts are now being accepted and must be submitted to  Email Contact by June 2.
