Goldstein, Hill & West Architects Expands Design Team

Edith Altamiranda, Rosa Amaro and Melody Goldstein Contribute Talent and Creativity to Thriving Architecture and Design Firm

( New York, NY – April 7, 2014) – Goldstein, Hill & West Architects (GHWA), a New York City-based architecture firm responsible for more than 35,000 residential units in over 100 buildings throughout Manhattan, announced the expansion of its design team with the addition of Edith Altamiranda, Rosa Amaro, and Melody Goldstein, well respected professionals with strong pedigrees.  The firm has grown to a staff of 100 over the course of five years.

“We’re passionate about design and we’re constantly on the lookout for proven talent to expand our team,” said L. Stephen Hill, a founding partner at GHWA. “Edith, Rosa and Melody bring great energy and a depth of experience to Goldstein, Hill & West, and will play key roles in the exciting new projects we’re working on throughout the City.”

Edith Altamiranda, who joins GHWA as a project designer, has nearly ten years of experience in architecture and design, zoning regulation, and building codes. In her new role, she will be responsible for the development of exterior design concepts for architectural projects, rendering and graphics production, and feasibility studies. Ms. Altamiranda will also be involved in preparing building models for wind tunnel tests.

For the past three years, she was an intermediate architect at Hustvedt Cutler Architects in Manhattan, where she developed feasibility studies concerning NYC’s zoning and building code regulations, and was responsible for development of designs and production of complete drawings. Ms. Altamiranda holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture with an emphasis in urban design and landscape architecture from the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York.

Rosa Amaro comes to GHWA as a project designer with seven years of experience in the industry, most recently as a junior architect at Dattner Architects. At the firm, she was involved in the schematic design, design development, construction administration and preparation of documents for Van Cortlandt Green Supportive Housing in the Bronx, the renovation of the IceStone Factory in Brooklyn, and the Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.

At GHWA, Amaro will be charged with the development of exterior design concepts for architectural projects, rendering and graphics production, and feasibility studies. She will also be involved in preparing building models for wind tunnel tests. Amaro holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York.

As a junior designer, Melody Goldstein will work closely with the zoning team at GHWA to conduct zoning analysis and preliminary design, and coordinate with a number of City agencies to obtain special permits and landmarks commission approvals. Ms. Goldstein has ten years of experience in the design of residential buildings, most recently working as a junior architect/CAD operator at SWA Architecture in Manhattan for new restaurants occupying existing buildings in New York. For six years prior, Ms. Goldstein was an architect’s assistant at Scarano Architects in Brooklyn, where she was involved in the design and development of residential additions and multi-family residential and mixed-use buildings.

Ms. Goldstein holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a bachelor’s in fine arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, R.I.
