Elysium Announces Release of ASFALIS EX6, Showcasing Flexibility for CAD Re-use and Significant Performance Leaps

Hamamatsu, JAPAN, May 13, 2014 -- Elysium Co. Ltd, a leading global provider of data translation software, has announced the release of ASFALIS EX6.0, a highly robust multi-CAD translation engine that enables customization and advanced functionality tailoring to several major manufacturers today.

Enhancements to ASFALIS can be categorized in areas such as customization with translation, model comparison validation, overall improved performance and ASFALIS TransServer for enterprise-level processing.

Mapping Entities with Translation
In the interoperability industry today, 3D data translation has become a common capability. Elysium has advanced its suite to the next level to enable functionality meeting very detailed requirements, such as adding or removing components and mapping attribute information between different CAD formats. Elysium achieves this with its ENF (Elysium Neutral File) Editor. The robust flexibility with this tool enables smooth data sharing and streamlined processes when exchanging data. For example, users can map part numbers from the original design to part names into the translated model, or change tiny but important details, such as deleting symbols or changing uppercase to lowercase in order to follow specifications from a particular OEM customer. One common use case for this functionality is mapping layer information from one CAD into groups in another CAD. See Fig-1, 2 and 3 for visual use case examples.

The power of the ENF Editor enables companies to re-use a common dataset that can be submitted to various customers, while removing “OEM-specific data” or adding “OEM-specific data.” They can remove small parts or internal components for a more streamlined analysis, or for protecting intellectual property. This tool can be taken advantage of for sharing data externally or internally.

Model Comparison and Validation
Elysium’s Geometry Validator has also seen a number of enhancements. Improved performance allows users a stress-free experience to quickly view comparison results on large models. Differences are additionally reported by feature types with their associated numerical values—including details such as the values of fillet radii, chamfer length and hole diameters.ã

Users can now explore some advanced functionality, such as editing the display to include specific dimensions on the results, adding notes, and capturing images of differences or specific areas to be included in a generated report.

The report will automatically include statistical information about the number of various difference types, as well as images of all differences. This report is designed for wide consumption, as it can be viewed simply in a browser without requiring any specific viewer or CAD licensing. This allows efficient communication regarding engineering changes to expand into management, purchasing, suppliers and more. Elysium is working to support the validation of PMI (Product and Manufacturing Information) and attributes in the future.

Higher Performance & CAD Support
The demands to shorten lead time and reduce costs are ever-present. Elysium has outdone themselves again to achieve amazing performance standards by applying parallel processing to translation and automatic healing, resulting in a 50% processing time reduction. Furthermore, they have added auto-healing options that can allow the users to choose minimal healing or powerful healing according to their needs, which improves flexibility for users to apply even faster processing when necessary for their use case. For a future release, Elysium is now implementing incremental translation capability, which can recognize previously translated data, thus improving time by yet another means since existing data is re-used rather than re-translated.

Support for additional CAD systems include direct read and write options, meaning translation can be performed without utilizing a seat of the CAD system. Specific new formats supported without needing the CAD licensing include CATIA V5, Pro/E, NX and CADmeister. This option expands the capability for users to increase their breadth of translation utilization and improve accurate data collaboration even further with customers, suppliers or partners.

ASFALIS TransServer: Enterprise-level Fidelity
ASFALIS TransServer (ATS) is the web-portal front-end interface that provides an extremely robust capability to manage multiple users, job submissions, queuing, and scheduling among various CAD translations and other processing options. ATS can accommodate from tens of users to several hundreds of users, enabling large-scale use and sharing among various divisions within a corporation.

Additional enhancements include an improved user-interface for an even more user-friendly experience. Users can refer to flow charts to help them choose scenarios of different types of processing runs they would like to implement. This is especially helpful in composing complex scenarios with many components, which is one of the unique strengths of ASFALIS.

“The ability to perform these very robust and sometimes complex scenarios is what really sets us apart from others in our industry,” says Atsuto Soma, CTO of Elysium Co. Ltd. “We have seen customers take advantage of multiple processing options within a single scenario work flow, and it has proven to improve their product lifecycle time and overall data quality.”
