NAIMA Releases New Instructional Training Series DVD on Fiber Glass Duct Board Fabrication

DVD includes 22 training demonstrations of multiple fittings for both beginners and experienced HVAC contractors.

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 19, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —  The North American Insulation Manufacturers Association ( NAIMA) announces the release of a new instructional training series DVD on fabricating fiber glass duct board systems. Based on NAIMA's Fibrous Glass Duct Construction Standard, the DVD includes 22 short video demonstrations on the latest duct board fabrication techniques.  Demonstrations include how to construct simple straight duct sections; how to use a grooving machine to make straight ducts the easy way; and how to utilize the modular duct construction method to make fittings easier, stronger, faster and less costly to fabricate than the same type of sheet metal fitting.

The new DVD Fiber Glass Duct Board Fabrication -- Instructional Training Series is available from NAIMA by calling 703.684.0084. Each of the 22 segments can also be viewed on YouTube by entering “NAIMA Insulation Videos” into the YouTube search bar.

Developed for both new and experienced HVAC contractors and technicians, the training sessions cover tools, fabrication techniques, and the methodology behind ducts and fittings typically used on today's HVAC systems.  Beginning with the basics, the training series includes timesaving tools and tips, duct reinforcement for larger duct systems, and proper duct closure systems — one of the most critical parts of the fabrication process.

Additional segments demonstrate fabrication of fittings utilizing the modular duct construction method to fabricate elbows, transition, offsets and other fittings. The technique makes installation easier by allowing fabrication of fittings from closed duct sections at the time of duct installation. Presenters demonstrate how the modular duct construction enhances productivity by minimizing the number of circumferential joints and simplifying the fabrication of the fittings.  The demonstrations include a pause at the end of each segment to facilitate the learning via hands-on fabrication.
