Wink Brings its Connected Home to Google's Android Wear

Operate your smart home right from your wrist

SAN FRANCISCO, June 27, 2014 — (PRNewswire) — Google I/O Conference -- Four days after launching as a standalone business, Wink announces that the Wink app will be available to download for Android Wear™, small, powerful devices, worn on the body.  In conjunction with Wink's launch at The Home Depot nationwide on July 7, Android Wear will allow consumers to connect to Wink's collection of 60 products from the world's most trusted brands. As the platform that connects people to the products they rely on every day, Wink will provide consumers information and let them operate their smart products when they need it most through their Android Wear.

"With Android Wear we are making it even easier and more convenient to connect to your home in any way you want," said Izzy Johnston, Head of Android for Wink. "With a simple command of 'OK, Google, Start Wink,' you can preheat your oven, turn your living room lights on, check to see if you remembered to lock the front door and much more anywhere, anytime. You can also receive alerts that inform you of key events like motion being detected in your home or the temperature spiking."

Using the Wink app, Android Wear users can receive alerts about their connected home products and activate shortcuts that let them turn products off or on or adjust them on the go.  The Android Wear version of Wink will be available in the Google play store along with Wink's Android and iOS versions on July 7 and ready to connect to a suite of smart home products from trusted brands like GE, Schlage and Lutron. The addition of Wink for Android Wear is one more way in which Wink is making the connected home accessible.
