Theatre and Street Art on Offer in Quebec City

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC -- (Marketwired) -- Jul 03, 2014 -- Department of Canadian Heritage and Canada Economic DevelopmentThe Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, and the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced funding for the 47th Festival d'ete de Quebec from July 3 to 13, 2014.

The Canadian Heritage funding amounts to $1.1 million ($550,000 for 2014 and $550,000 for 2015). Funding was granted under the Canada Arts Presentation Fund and will make it possible to offer a wide range of music performances, as well as urban events highlighting street theatre and circus arts.

Previously, Canada Economic Development granted $1.2 million in non-repayable funding through the Quebec Economic Development Program to promote and market the Festival internationally in 2013 and 2014. This funding, announced on July 4, 2013, is intended encourage sectors of activity that, like tourism, play a critical role in Quebec's economic health.
