Japan – U.S. Innovation Awards Final Symposium Agenda Set

San Francisco, CA – The Innovation in Japan – U.S. Business and Technology Awards program today announced the final agenda for the fourth annual Innovation Symposium, to be held July 25, 2014 at Stanford University’s Arrillaga Alumni Center, beginning at 1:30 p.m. ( http://www.usajinnovate.org).

Key elements of the program include:

  • John V. Roos, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan, will offer welcoming remarks.
  • Steve Blank, noted Serial Entrepreneur and lecturer at Stanford University and U.C. Berkeley, will participate in a Keynote “fireside chat” on innovation globalization and the evolving ecosystem of Silicon Valley.  Moderated by Dr. Richard Dasher, Director, Stanford University US-Asia Technology Management Center.
  • Two exciting, rapidly growing companies will be honored as Emerging Leaders:Robert Eberhart, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, Santa Clara University and & Director, Santa Clara/Stanford Project on Japanese Entrepreneurship, will lead a discussion exploring factors underlying each company’s success with Jon Cobb,Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Stratasys Ltd., and Dr. Jeanie Han, Ph.D., CEO, LINE Euro-America.Koji Osawa, Ph.D., Managing Principal and Co-Founder, Global Catalyst Partners,
  • Stratasys Ltd., the global leader in manufacturing 3 D printers that create physical objects directly from digital data, and
  • LINE Corporation, developer and operator of a unique smart phone app that has grown into a distinctive global service, now available in 230 countries, offering free messaging, free video calls and expressive stickers

will moderate a panel examining “Cross Border Entrepreneurial Growth Opportunities and Challenges.” Distinguished panelists will be Randy Aruja, General Manager, Japan, Bloom Energy Corporation; Graeme Martin, Ph.D., CEO, Takeda Ventures Inc.; and Dai Watanabe,VP of Strategy and Corporate Development, DeNA West.

  • Allen Miner, Founder and Chairman, Sunbridge; will be honored along with Stephen Leist, Managing Partner and Founder, Piedmont Partners Venture Group, Dana Lewis, former President, Japan Society of Northern California and Dr. Dasher for founding the Innovation Awards program in 2011.
  • Network with an energetic audience of venture capitalists, academic experts, business persons, students and others deeply interested in Japan – U.S. innovation and entrepreneurship prior to and following the Symposium.
  • Demonstrations of Stratasys 3 D printing and LINE Corporation’s smart phone app service also will be available prior to and following the Symposium.

The Japan – U.S. Innovation Awards program and the Japan – U.S. Innovation Symposium are organized by the Japan Society of Northern California

A distinguished 40-person Innovation Advisory Council composed of venture capitalists, academic experts and business persons in Japan and the U.S. governs the program and conducts a rigorous selection process to select Award winners ( http://www.usjinnovate.org/governance).
