Océ PlotWave 500 large format printing system to print faster, share faster and finish projects faster

Instant productivity for technical document handling

MELVILLE, N.Y., August 4, 2014– Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the launch of the Océ PlotWave 500 large format printing system. Featuring the Océ ClearConnect touchscreen interface for fast and easy walk-up printing, copying and scanning, the newest print system offering from Canon is primed to make a significant impact on the industry. Boasting the ability to print 10 D-size plots per minute with virtually no warm-up delay, and cloud integration, these productive capabilities enable users to print faster, share faster and finish projects faster, making the Océ PlotWave 500 a labor-saving investment.

“Océ large format technical document printers are known for its high productivity and simplicity for AEC, manufacturing, and design engineering professionals,” said Junichi Yoshitake, senior vice president and general manager, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A., Inc.  “Based on the market demand for more flexible technical document workflows, we have once again advanced our system capabilities to help our customers become more competitive. The Océ PlotWave 500 combines high speed, productive printing, scanning, and copying via our popular Océ Scanner Express II, all in a space-saving single footprint configuration. It’s specially designed to help today’s CAD professionals  confidently meet their project challenges, including the ability to easily scan to or print from the cloud for enhanced collaboration  in today’s fast-paced business world.”

A Compact Workhorse for the Office

The Océ PlotWave 500 large format printing system integrates Océ’s exclusive Radiant Fusing technology, which provides quick warm-up compared to a slow start-up of up to four minutes for conventional printers. That can easily save an hour a day or more just in printing delays.

The PlotWave 500 is Energy Star 2.0 compliant, and is designed and constructed for commercial use with durable, hard-wearing components.

Takes the Work Out of Workflow

Submitting technical document files to a large format printer from virtually anywhere can give professionals a big advantage when time is tight and deadlines are looming. The Océ ClearConnect software suite provides flexible ways to submit files to the printer. Users can print from their desktop via Océ Publisher Select to manage complex document sets. With additional mobile apps, CAD professionals can submit files for printing from their Apple iOS and Android smartphones or tablets.

The Océ ClearConnect multi-touch user panel can help expedite technical document workflow processes. Similar to using a smartphone or tablet there should be a short learning curve. The simple layout, smart kick-starts and detailed preview functions help users get their prints fast, and help to lessen errors.

Offers a People-Friendly, Planet-Friendly Choice

Designed to work side-by-side with CAD professionals, the Océ PlotWave 500 is a people-friendly and planet-friendly choice. The system is virtually silent in idle mode and generates only 52 db(A) of sound while printing. In addition, the Océ PlotWave 500 provides the lowest energy usage in its class thanks to Océ Radiant Fusing technology.

Easy for everyone

The Océ PlotWave 500 runs on the universal Océ software suite that looks and works the same across all Océ wide format systems. Users can define job settings and run tasks on the Océ ClearConnect multi-touch user panel, driver or submission tool in the same way on all Océ color and monochrome   large format systems. This creates a uniform workflow across the Océ PlotWave 750, Océ PlotWave 340/360, Océ ColorWave 650, and Océ ColorWave 300 systems.
